Called into the Anglican church named St. Mary's Church at Hagley on the way home on Thursday. The lane to the church is very narrow as you can see in the last photo. The church's beginnings was in 1856 and opened in 1862.
Churches are yet another area where I much prefer old to new architecture. Fortunately I suspect that many of the newer churches will not stand long enough to be put to the test of time. I love the green tunnel in your last photograph too.
Un precioso camino entre los árboles, que conduce directamente hasta la iglesia. Una vez recorrido, la vista se alegra, al llegar a conocer la belleza que guarda ese gran edificio.
Great photos. Now down memory lane of blogs of yore. "Nice Church". "Great fields" "Cool Lane". Ah the memories of yore. Cheers Colin PS: Sweltering hot here last two days and NO sea breeze.
I like driving down narrow country lanes during the early Springtime when the trees are just beginning to get their new leaves following the winter months.
It's in a lovely setting that church. Still can't comment on your blog Rosie - just went there again to see if my comments were there, but no. It will come right eventually :)
It is a really beautiful building! Thank you for sharing the history of your beautiful country !
ReplyDeleteGreetings
You are most welcome Ela.
DeleteMagnificent and it seems you have lots of free green space in Australia.
ReplyDeleteOh we do on this Island...a lot of it farmland, then the bush.
DeleteThe laneway is very appealing; more so than the church to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe church is very similar to other churches built at the same time. The lane is narrow and lovely with those trees growing over it.
DeleteImpressive building!
ReplyDeleteI'm always attracted to the architecture of religious buildings, churches in particular, and I never get disappointed.
The architecture is similar to many churches built about the same time, but they are all different.

I'm not wrapped in the new churches either, much prefer the older ones they look more like churches to me:)
DeleteGood travelling through that greenery.

DeleteWell winter for you first and soon it will be summer down here..tomorrow to be exact by the calendar.
What a beautiful looking church and a nice narrow lane.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice in a lovely setting, couldn't get any further away due to the trees.
DeleteThe tree tunnel in the lane leads to a very nice church.
ReplyDeleteAnd a sweet tunnel out as well.
DeleteI like but I do like churches
ReplyDeleteBe interesting to know how they built them back then Jo-Anne.

Yes indeed. The setting is picturesque.
DeleteLa iglesia me parece muy bonita y también los paisajes. Besos.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely and shady there, the church would be rather cold inside, but the door was locked.
DeleteGreat photos.
