The sea

Some photos that I forgot to post back in mid spring taken on one of our drives.  

These photos were taken at a rest area near Wynyard along the north west coast of the Island.  We bought lunch and sat on this seat, watched the little yachts doing their races, we looked towards Tablecape where the Tulips are grown.

The sea is Bass Strait.

The Bluff

A view along the walkway and riding bike track at Devonport, Tasmania.  Little rocks everywhere and no one swims in this area. 

The second photo is the view from the above and looks towards 'The Bluff Caravan Park', the little beach and picnic area. 

We stayed here at the caravan park for another two weeks before heading home in March..

The sea is Bass Strait.

The caravan park called 'The Bluff Caravan Park' in Devonport which is owned by the council and managed by good managers who live in a house in the caravan park.

The ship below is heading into the mouth of the Mersey River at Devonport, Tasmania and the ship is the ferry that carries cars and passengers to Melbourne, Victoria's port which will be changed later this year to Geelong, Victoria. The trip takes all night and sometimes there are sailings during the day in the busier times.

The remaining views are taken with my mobile phone from our caravan site.

Amazing the caravan park is nearly empty in the mornings only to be full in the evenings. The amenities on the right, on the roof solar hotwater.

 

Along the Mid North West Coast, Tasmania

Scenery between Penguin and Ulverstone.  Those Island are called the Three Sisters and have plenty of bird life. 

The last photo before the map is part of the Ulverstone Beach.

Whilst staying in Devonport we had to have our vehicle serviced as it was due, so the company let us hire a car for the duration of the service - the car below which cost us $25.00. 

We are off again for Easter leaving Tuesday for a few weeks, it depends on the weather.

Low Head, Tasmania, Australia

Went for a drive the other day was gone 5 hours.  Down one side of the Tamar River across the Batman Bridge and back down to the city of Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.

Low Head is at the mouth of the Tamar River, a small town with a small population.

A signal station was set up at Low Head in 1805.  It is Australia's oldest continuously used pilot station. The light house was built as in the tower 1883, but poorly constructed thus pulled down and another rebuilt in 1888.  These days it's unmanned but of course in use with all the modern workings.

Batman Bridge built between 1966 - 1968 was the first cable stayed bridge in Australia.

The grounds are lovely and green and many a camper is camped for free. Camping was not permitted once but obviously now it is!
