Tahune Airwalk_3

From the Airwalk at Tahune the view below.  The River is the Huon River.  The path you see is a long one to a swinging bridge which goes over the Huon River and back to the beginning of one of the walks. The second last photo shows the beginning of those 104 steps and behind it the picnic area.

Tahune Airwalk_2

On the way up to the Tahune Airwalk, the view on the walk so many trees gone in the bush fire from a few years back - rather sad.

Tahune Airwalk.

Tahune Airwalk and Adventures isn't too far south from Huonville.  We had been to the airwalk several years ago and decided to go again.  There were 104 steps up to the walk, we managed with many stops along the way because as you get older you just can't spring up those steps like you used to do..and mind you there were plenty of young people stopping for rests as well.

There is a big car park, accommodation, a shelter shed which is in the first photo with tables outside.  You can go hang gliding and there are many walks within the park.  A few years ago a savage bush fire burnt down heaps of trees so hence the bush is not at it's best with so many trees now gone.  The whole area including the tree walk was closed for a couple of years for safety reasons.  There is an admission fee which is not that expensive.

If you enlarge the above photo and read a little it tells you of the Policeman who was protector of the pines.  The photo below tells of the Custodians of this Land.

The Huon River looking both ways.  This River is the one that goes through Huonville further north.
