Temporarily Closed

The Black Stone, a restaurant in Blackstone Heights a surburb of Launceston has operated for just a couple of years.  It's now Temporarily Closed and what a pity, we had lunch there last year, not a cheap place but not expensive either.  I took some photo of the inside and meant to post them last year but forgot. The first two I borrowed the remainer I took with my phone and of course forgot to take a photo of my meal, and there were several people eating there hidden from the camera.

West Side of the Tamar

 The West side of the Tamar River in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.  It's a muddy place when the tide is out.  These shots were taken recently on one of our trips to buy some Strawberries from the farm.

The last two photos you can see the Windermere Church is the distance on the otherside (eastern side) of the river, a link to the church.

Roses and the Kangaroo!

Something different from me.  The first rose is Peace which gave up the ghost a few years back and we never replaced it.  The second photo is of the rose Climbing Iceberg which is rather a pretty picture in our back yard.

The Kangaroo photo was taken in a newer building area and there is a lot of bush behind the animal.

Targa, Tasmania

Targa is a rural area North East of Launceston and only a few klm away, it's pretty and green.  Took these shots when passing through. The first photo is of a river called St. Patrick's River.

Targa is an aboriginal word for 'cry'

Nothing like a good old scratch.

Stables

 We came down a road which we have never been on at Sidmouth here in Northern Tasmania.  Sidmouth is not that far from Launceston where I live.  We saw many horses in the distance and wondered what was going on, we discovered rugs on the horses and they were all standing on gravel/dirt looking unhappy. Anyway upon further investigation the place is a boarding stable for horses. The reviews are not so good on Google.  The owners of the boarding stables must be doing ok other wise they wouldn't be in business.

Wouldn't like to board my horse there is I had one or two.   Took the shot with the phone out the window.

Carvings at Low Head, Tasmania.

 In front of East Beach Caravan Park at Low Head near George Town, Tasmania (the mouth of the Tamar River town) there are these beautiful carvings of Macrocapa Pine (a wood) done by Eddie Freeman a chainsaw carver, and commissioned by the previous park owners.  A link to what Eddie has to say about his chain saw art.

I've never shown these particular caravings on my blog because it's my first photos of them taken the other day.

Bellbuoy Beach Road

Bellbuoy Beach is not that far from George Town in northern Tasmania, so the sea is Bass Strait.

Dennis and Ros Lawrence cattle farmers decided to subdivide their land for houses. 

It's the first time we have been into this area and we didn't go to the beach there.

I took some photos of  a few houses in the area, some new, some older.
