Kangaroos and such.

The Rockhampton Zoo was a place we visited and enjoyed.  Not a good variety of animals but a pleasant afternoon.  A few years ago the park and many animals were destroyed due to a Cyclone that went through the area.

Crocodile and below a Koala which was well hidden from view, just managed to snap at the right time.
When first looking at that croc we thought it was dead, but no it did move it's jaw!

Fancy finding!

The Tasmanian Tiger. Now extinct.

Photos found on the internet.

The thylacine, more commonly known as the Tasmanian tiger, was the largest marsupial carnivore to ever walk the Earth. It is believed that this creature went extinct in 1936.

A link to Wikipedia is here about the Tasmanian Tiger.

Once in awhile someone will say they have seen a Tasmania Tiger, but there is never any photo.  Who know, there could be in our dense Tasmanian bush.

Ivanhoe Crossing where people can fish but beware of the Crocodiles.  The crossing itself has been closed for while due to structural damage.

Ivanhoe Crossing takes it's name from Ivanhoe Station a large Cattle Station.

Arabella! The British Blue.

My youngest sister in law has a cat called 'Arabella' she is a British Shorthair the pedigreed version of the traditional British domestic cat, with a distinctively chunky body, dense coat and broad face.  Also my eldest daughter in law has one and her name is Chloe.  These cats are kept inside, need a lot of brushing and leave their cat hair everywhere.  A good scratching pole is a necessity for Arabella.

I used to own a few cats when first married when we lived on a farm.  When we came to the city to live, all the other cats had gone expect one which I brought to the city and he eventually died of old age.  No more cats after that.

Tasmanian Devil

The Tasmanian devil is a carnivorous marsupial of the family Dasyuridae, now found in the wild only on the Australian island state of Tasmania.
The size of a small dog, it became the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world following the extinction of the thylacine in 1936. It is characterised by its stocky and muscular build, black fur, pungent odour, extremely loud and disturbing screech, keen sense of smell, and ferocity when feeding.

The photo I took some time ago at a Zoo here in Tasmania.  Watching them feed is amazing.

The photo above I found on the internet, it was on the ABC site.

The Chook!

When living at New Norkfolk I had a swing which consisted of two ropes hanging from a tree and a wooden seat, in the backyard.  One day my father had to chop one our chooks heads off so mum could cook one for a meal, not the head but the fowl.  The axe was sharpened the chopping block was checked and I was swinging on my swing being a small child.  A few neighbours came to visit and watch the big event.
The head of the chook was axed and that was that, until this dead chook started to fly, I took off and it followed me with my father telling me not to be frightened as it was normal for this type of thing to happen.  Eventually after a few minutes all was calm thank goodness.

The above photo was taken by someone else - I have borrowed it, and of course it's a rooster.

Killed it with fly spray. R.I.P
Looked on the net & a photo with a description was the same as my photo.
