Hervey Bay Beaches, Queensland.

First photo from Gatakers Bay as I forgot to add it last time.

On the way back to the caravan park in winter 2019 we came across the Ferris wheel with it's colourful lights just turned on.  It was school holidays so hence the Ferris wheel.

Below the beach in front of the caravan park looking both ways. So a few steps from the caravan to the beach.

It appears that some of my photos have gone from the blog - they might reappear, well hopefully they do as I didn't remove them.  Must be blogspot-Google gone mad!...lol

Hervey Bay, Queensland

From 1770 to Hervey Bay for a week.
The temperature at night was 4.6deg C in Hervey Bay with a top of 26 deg C somewhat cooler than we were used to in Winter 2017.
Seeing as we stop in Hervey Bay last year for awhile I deemed it not necessariy to take photos or show photos from last year we were there 2016.
Hervey Bay last year the link herehere and here for those who like to refresh memories.
Photos from here are on Hervey Bay are 'new' ones :)

We stayed in a different Caravan Park last year  it was just about on the beach with a very short walk to the sea.
So at sunset I ventured those few steps to the beach, view in one way then the other.

The view from our caravan.

This picnic area was next door to the Caravan Park.

The Botanical Gardens

The Botanic Gardens in Hervey Bay are quite nice much improved from our last visit several years ago. It's a large area with a big pond at one end of it and seats where one can rest.

Have selected a few photos of the gardens.

As the sun goes down!

Still at Hervey Bay and a few photos of the sun setting.  I presume the lady has had her baby now :)

Love taking photos of the foam.
The playground below - part of. The beach is to the left.

The 2 photos below taken from another beach near where we stayed in the caravan park.  I guess the people are getting mud crabs.

Photo below is opposite some shops with the beach to the left and walkway for miles along beside the sea.  One would have thought there would be 'A Telstra Air' on that phone booth. Australians mostly know what I mean.  It's a Wi-fi that one can access from your home Wi-fi, that's the idea the top of the box is pink if Wi-fi is available.

Houses and shops, Queensland.

The 1st house is somewhat how many Queensland houses are built or were and a few still are.
Some are not filled in down stairs so therefore are stilt houses.  Being stilt houses it lets the air flow through on the hot summer days, the veranda's to sit outside in shelter to eat on the balcony with the partitions helping to keep the sun out.
The remainder of the houses are of some around the area in Hervey Bay in Queensland, Winter 2016.
A few shops opposite the beach.  There are no high rise buildings along the beach!

Hervey Bay, Queensland.

From Rockhampton we ventured down to Hervey Bay to stop for several days Winter 2016.

Harvey Bay, Queensland, a coastal city in southern Queensland, is widely known as a site for observing humpback whales. Whale-watching boats operate during the July to November migration season. It's also a hub for tours to nearby Fraser Island, which has beaches and features a rainforest habitat for dingoes and other wildlife. A waterfront esplanade links the city's marina with beaches offering calm waters for swimming.
Wikipedia

Urangan Pier is 868 meters long original length was 1124 meters was used to export Steam, Sugar and Coal in 1917.  In the 1980's all exports stopped from this pier.  The pier was threatened with demolition but it was saved! The pier was leased to the Harvey Bay Council for protection.

Many people we saw walking their dogs along the beach.
Photo below is of Terry Summers born in 1929 in England and is singing The Fisherman's Song.. a statue of him 'Duet' it's called.
Have no idea who Terry Summers was as I can't find any history about him.

Opposite the pier is a lovely lawned area and Cafe.
Hervey Bay has certainly been cleaned up since our last visit.

The Helmet!

The Header photo is what we see in the evening time :)
We are now in Ballina NSW (New South Wales) by the sea, 744km (462 miles) above Sydney, over 8 hours drive.  Heading to a place called Coffs Harbour for 5 days which is about a 2...1/2 hours drive south.
In Hervey Bay a town up north we came across this cyclist with 'things' in his helmet to ward off the Magpies attacking him.
