Roses and the Kangaroo!

Something different from me.  The first rose is Peace which gave up the ghost a few years back and we never replaced it.  The second photo is of the rose Climbing Iceberg which is rather a pretty picture in our back yard.

The Kangaroo photo was taken in a newer building area and there is a lot of bush behind the animal.

  1. Margaret, the rose is my favorite flower. Yours is gorgeous! I can imagine the scent that the ones on "that wall" of roses will give off!

  2. So, are the kangaroos pretty docile and mellow? Or can they be aggressive?

    1. Sometimes Kangaroos are very aggressive, they have big claws and they do kick, not good at all if you are attacked. However, some are docile and usually hop off, if they a bit tame they are ok if you don't do anything to alarm them.

  4. Love your roses. I can remember reading the story of how Peace was developed. That Iceberg is doing really well. You obviously found the perfect spot for it.
And of course I appreciate the roo.

    1. Thank you EC. Husband waters the roses and feed them, they need a feed at the moment. It is a lovely spot there for them to grow covering the fence..

The kangaroo looks very cute, and his color mingles well with the surrounding colors.

    1. Thanks Duta regarding the roses.
Kangaroos like many animals simulate well into the area of where they live. Have been to different areas of Australia and saw different coloured ones many times, they all blend in well with the vegetation.

  9. In reply to the second comment from US followers - kangaroos are very aggressive
and can attack - their claws can rip your stomach to bits.
The ones you see in enclosed parks for petting have their claws/paws cut.
Just really like the so-called cuddly koalas - you should see the mess they can make if they get inside your car, caravan or God forbid your house.

That rose - "Peace" is beautiful plus the climbing ones on the fence.
I guess you and Eddie take great pride in your garden - well done.
    Cheers

    1. The rose that died was poorly anyway Andrew, it was only a 1 year old rose and normally you buy a rose in winter when it's 2 years old, has a better chance to survive. Thanks re Climbing Iceberg roses, and yes, the climbing one has been about for years.

  13. The kangaroo is such a very special animal, as your photo shows. I was worried about them being endangered, either accidentally (hit by cars) or intentionally (hunting) but now I am even more worried. Spouse and I drove from Melbourne to Adelaide and saw many dead animals along the highways, some of which were definitely kangas.

    1. A beautiful creature and so graceful when hopping along for such a large animal. That's sad having to see them on the side of the road expired but it happens a lot, sometimes here and on the mainland up north there is a truck that goes along the highway and back roads and collects the dead road kill every few days, but for the life of me I can't recall which Shire.
I remember a visit we had to Cunnamulla once (been a few time) the football ground in the evening times was covered in Kangaroos, hardly standing room for a human. I'm sure they won't become endangered, there are so many of them in all areas, many Shire wondering how they are going to deal with so many of them.

  14. Hello Margaret
There is nothing like summer and summer time, flowers are blooming everywhere, there are roses and it is warm. It's nice to see such things in the middle of winter, but for me the days are getting longer and I'm slowly starting to look forward to spring....
    Have a nice day

We mostly see kangaroos and other wild life at dawn and dusk, so if travelling and there is bush one has to be careful.

    1. Thank you Ashok. Kangaroos are common if you are in the right area where they are, but I bet there are many within Australia who have never seen a live one. We saw about 6 this evening on our way home from our friends place, they were behind a high fence otherwise they would be on the road.
