Hawthorn

On our way to Westbury here in Tasmania the other day the Hawthorn was out and looking pretty.
We took  a road that we don't drive on often so the photos are of the countryside in the mid north west of the Island.
Cows grazing, white Hawthorn and pink growing in the paddocks and along part of the side of the road. Some places or areas have Hawthorn Hedges but not in this area.
Hedges were almost unknown in 1810 but from 1820 onwards the settlers were planting hedges as fences.

  2. Never seen Hawthorn the plant. Only heard of its leaves, berries, and flowers used in medicine for heart/blood circulation disorders.
    Lovely white flowers!

    1. It's good to see it all green, won't be long and it will be brown, we are already watering the garden and lawn here.

  6. Beautiful.

Driving along this laneway a few minutes ago...I gave way to a Land Mullet (lizard) as he/she scurried across the road.

    1. Oh I recall us driving in WA and having to dodge the big lizards, you can do that over there as there are not many cars on the highway going north or coming south.

    1. It is a nice blossom, not always easy to find two trees to frame a photo.

    1. Hawthorn has a sweet sickly smell when in mass.
