Buildings of Narrabri, NSW

Back to Winter holiday 2019.
We came to Boggabilla NSW and it's a far north inland town in New South Wales. People about 550.
The Pub was for sales a few years ago, obviously someone bought it and turned it into the Wobbly Boot Hotel that also sells pizzas.

We arrived in Narrabri NSW and stayed a few nights giving us time to have a good look around.
The photos are of the main street on a Sunday and some of the buildings.
The town looks like it would on a week day with Covid-19.

  1. Sunday must be a day to stay home. Lovely photos of the town, it does seem like the towns today with the virus.

    1. Covid-19 wasn't around in winter last year, and soon as I saw the photos to put on the blog it just reminded me of the streets in some photos I've seen from around the world during this period now.

  3. Todo está muy tranquilo y no se ve nadie en la calle, ni tan siquier algún coche que circule por ella.

  6. Quintessential country town. Love those wide streets and the post office and the pub have been replicated in many a country town. I am glad the pub has been revised and continues to serve the community too.

    1. Some streets are very wide in these country towns, they provide angle parking on both sides of some streets then there is a flower strip up the middle plus a lane of traffic either side of the strip, so yes they are wide in some towns.

    1. There are and a bank if one of them.
Remember one country town didn't have a bank and we had to drive back 40km to a bank some years ago now. If we had known we would have stopped on the way through, so 80 km to go to the bank round trip.

  11. Most of the small timber and farm towns in our state have lost a large of amount of population, and most of them don't have the commerce or facilities they had 70 or 80 years ago. It looks like this town is still healthy in spite of it being Sunday. Nice post!

    1. Thanks Bill. There are many smallish towns that do well here, distance might have something to do with it between towns. Many young ones go to the cities but some return.

  13. I am not surprised that you have had very little problem from the virus - as you mention it does look like lockdown does today for most of us, but some of the buildings do have really interesting architectural features.

    1. Hardly a soul as it was a Sunday, and in many country towns all shops close, might find one or two open.

    1. The reason it's quiet because it was a Sunday, in country towns many of the shops are closed on a Sunday :)
