Buildings of Narrabri NSW

Narrabri is situated 560km north west of Sydney NSW.
These days Narrabri is the administrative heart of the second richest agricultural Shire in Australia.  Cotton is a major crop, wheat, beef and lamb.
The town is tidy and the people are helpful and friendly.

  1. Nice looking buildings. I like the courthouse's coat of arms, it's very attractive. I like the facade and the windows of the Chinese restaurant. The entry reminds me of a keyhole. There is a house here that has an entry like that to their house.
    Have a wonderful day.

  4. The doctor's surgery looks as if it is in an old 'bank building'. In his youth my partner lived in more than one of them in country towns.
The Chinese restaurant is much newer looking, and quite stylish.

Yes that was a bank where the surgery is, at least the building is getting used.

It is nice to see different buildings in different towns, some towns are similar some are not.

  7. After its initial 1800s buildings, it seems it had a second boom in the mid 1900s. Very interesting.

  8. The facade of the Chinese restaurant cracked me up--- The attempt at oriental exotica is not entirely successful, and yet it pleases the eye. Nice place.

    1. Well I guess they tried whoever built it and designed it, maybe it was also subject to Council approval as some things are in towns and cities, maybe the Council/Shire wanted it to look more like an English/Australian building rather than a Chinese one - who knows :)

  9. It is interesting that the word surgery is used to indicate the doctor's office in many parts of the English-speaking world, whereas here in North America, surgery is reserved for a medical procedure, an operation.

    1. Here the word 'surgery' is used for an operation and the Dr.'s surgery, or the Dr.'s rooms. We never say Dr.'s office, well not yet.
