Bellata, NSW

We drove through Bellata NSW to Narrabri.
Bellata is a small village of 529 people, it's an agriculture area. We didn't venture into the village, just kept going.
As you can see the ground is very dry and certainly not a great deal of colour.

We stopped for to have a walk in the area above, it's off to the side of the road, a 'rest area'.

  1. So desolate looking and could use some much needed rain.

    1. Hoping they received plenty of rain during their rainy season.

  2. A very dry landscape... but there is a certain beauty... I don't believe the locals think that. They must be anxious for rain.

    1. They would be looking for rain and hopefully it did so during the summer in their rainy season.

    1. It is indeed. Floods there also if they get enough rain, so flat for miles or kms that you can see mirages sometimes in the distance.

  6. So very dry, so very flat.
I suspect that small townships like that one struggle in our prolonged droughts. Badly.

    1. Yes it's all those small towns and larger ones that struggle in drought, we don't always here about those people, we usually hear about the bigger land owners. It's rather sad.

  7. Whenever I am in an area with small settlements I try to spend a little money, but you can't do it everywhere that's for sure.

    1. No you can't do it everywhere. When we stay in a town we spend money, food mainly and if their is a shop when travelling at lunch time we will often buy our lunch for a change.. it all helps little towns.

  8. I am sure you have to stretch your legs at times, but it looks a pretty dull and drab place to stop.

    1. We sure do have to stretch our legs and yes it wasn't the best stop but not many along that particular highway either. So many roads inland don't have anywhere to stop, so if you see a place in time you pull over.

  9. Until your post...this post...I've never heard of Bellata.

Even in the dryness caused by drought there is beauty.

    1. So many places we go through that we don't know the name of too - tiny towns with just a church and hall plus a house or two.
Always beauty in everything if we look for it Lee.

  11. I somehow expect Hugh Jackman or Michael Pate (An Australian actor who often played Indians in Westerns in the 50's and 60's) to come riding across the landscape...

    1. Well you never know Hugh could come riding through that way one day :) I remember Michael Pate.
