Alva, Queensland

Alva Beach is a little beach side town near Ayr in Queensland.  15 minutes drive and you are there.  Tractors are usually used to pull boats out of the water and tow them into. The town has nearly 300 people. There certainly was no one about when we visited that day.

Alva has a longish beach which looks onto the Coral Sea..

Alva on the map is surround by red.

    1. Not sure if it's safe to swim there with the stingers, jellyfish and so on.
Good place to relax and fish, if you fish.

    1. Thank EC re clouds, nature at it's best at that time.
It was extremely quiet there at the beach. There is accommodation there for visitors and a small caravan park so it must get busy at some stage, one would think.

  7. Debe de ser una ciudad tranquila, con tan pocos habitantes. Supongo que en los meses de verano aumentará bastante.

La playa ahora, permanece vacía . Creo que quizás más tarde sus habitantes se animarán a dar un largo paseo.

    1. I should imagine it would get busy at some stage of the year with locals and visitors alike. Being winter when we were there, well to us the weather was fairly good, to locals it would be a bit cool.

  12. I wonder now how it is coping with the monsoons?
Now quite like southern beaches due to the Great Barrier Reef
but a pleasant place to swim - BUT just read the signs first.
Crocs, stingers, sharks etc etc are not great swimming companions!

    1. Wouldn't swim there Colin, too many of those creatures in the sea. I expect close to shore for a paddle would be alright.
Rain up that way the Burdekin area a heap of rain with the river flowing, let's hope it doesn't flood.

  18. I've never visited Alva Beach (how about that for a change? *smile*)...

An uncle of my now late ex-husband, Randall and his family lived at Midge Point, which is east of Bloomsbury, north of Mackay, and north of Newry Island where I lived at one stage, taking care of the then little resort that was on the island.

Percy (the uncle's name) always used a tractor when he took his boat out to go fishing...and to bring it back in.

Sorry...I didn't mean my response to turn into a novella! :)
