Oh Gosh!

Where does one begin with this magnificent museum in Temora, NSW.
It has just everything in it, it's large and takes a long time to view all the displays.  Never have I seen such items in the museum that I've never seen before, and how wonderful it was to see things from way back in time, some of those things my grandmother used to use and my great-mother, I can just remember the latter :)
Most of the items on show were donated by a family and families.
I'm showing a few photos over a few posts but won't bore you with all of it.

Remember if you wish to view these photos in more detail please click on the photo and it will enlarge.

A typical bedroom way back in time.

Above is a scene inside the building with wedding dresses, crockery you name it, it was there.

The old petrol or gasoline bowser and below is an old operating table.

Above  is a Sauna!
Below are Steam Engines.

The printing press and an old telephone.

    1. There was another old petrol pump older that the one I showed.
My parents had an old black phone on the wall with a thing like a speaker to speak into.

  5. Wow. That is a museum you could visit time and time again and notice something different each time.
You knew your great-grandmother? Another wow. I never knew any of my grandparents much less further back...

    1. So much in that museum, it truly is amazing.
Yes, remember my maternal great-grandmother very well sitting in her rocking chair by the fire dress in black. Granny was very old but the kettle was always on the hob and food was in the boiler handing from a hook above the fire. Also remember both my grandmothers cooking was done the same way as electricity was some time coming to that part of Tasmania where they lived.

    1. Thanks Bob. I can remember many of the things used in the home due to my great grandparents and grandparents living in the country where power wasn't available for some time, then when it was they were somewhat sceptical of it for ages.

    1. It certainly does, and we can understand how it took them so long to do things.

  8. Nothing like poking around a museum like that, especially if you old enough to remember some of the items. Of course we are not. Just theory.

It's a well kept museum and certainly worth visiting as it was packed, not like some places sparsely spread about.

  9. Well I sure didn't know about this place when I lived up in West Wyalong.
I can't remember any of my mates from Temora every mentioning it.
I doubt whether it is a new addition since 1980????????????????
    Cheers

    1. Probably at that time Colin your mates would not have been interested in a museum. Expects it's also grown over the years to what it is today.

  14. I hope these museums are well supported. It is important to maintain this link with the past. You know you are getting old when you visit a place like this and see artifacts from your own childhood!

    1. Visitors go there to the museums, some staff are volunteers as we had a good chat with some ladies who work there. Expect they have been quiet lately though.
Oh yes, it's rather odd when you see things your great grandparent used and grandparents and even myself at time due to where I was holidaying at that time.
