A couple of hills we went up on in Gundagai, NSW to see what was about.

A few buildings, the War Memorial in the middle of the main street therefore a round a bout, and lastly a place to stay.

  1. A beautiful area. I hope it is not threatened by the current rash of fires.

  3. Certainly the countryside looks good then, but that was months ago.
I bet pounds to peanuts that it doesn't look green like that now.
So far I believe Gundagai is bushfire free, but the fire season really
has not officially commenced..........so I would think the residents
of this Riverina area are in a state of worry.
Great to read that 4 bloody arsonists have been caught..........I
hope that they are locked up for a very long time with very unpleasant,
    depraved cell "buddies" !!!

    1. Always arsonists about unfortunately, they have no idea what damage they do - the only get a thrill to see fire..
Probably a bit brownish there at the moment..

    2. Actually having carefully studied your photos of this region of NSW, it seems that this council area has it's head screwed on. They have cleared a lot of the trees off the land, so open clear spaces which do not 'favour" bushfires.
Clearly seen on the first 4 photos. Of course those looney greenies probably screamed blue bloody murder when it was done, but I reckon that fires of the sort that are raging up the eastern seaboard would not eventuate in the Gundagai area. Good on the rural shire for their foresight and stuff the city greenies!

    3. I say good on the Shire too.
Pity other Shires don't take a leaf out of Gundagai's book. The aboriginals up north always have small fires going in their bush each winter to burn the undergrowth.
