Caravan Park, Tamworth NSW

We stayed at night at Sandy Hollow, not a lot there to see so next morning we moved north to Tamworth in New South Wales.
These photos are of the Caravan Park we stayed in.
The pool, camp kitchen and TV room along the with barbecue area are all close together.   This are is one of the nicest I've seen in our travels since 2000.

Tamworth is the Capital of Country Music in Australia.

Tuesday morning I'm having a Cataract removed from my right eye - 7am, so I'm hoping that all will be well and to visit your blogs as usual.

Bats below just outside the caravan park as there is a river below where they are flying, they are on their way to another area.

Does look a good pool area, never got to try it out as it was too cold.

  3. That park looks a far cry from the ones I knew years ago.
Good luck with the cataract removal. My mother had it done and couldn't believe the difference it made.

  8. What a luxurious camp site. No mosquitoes either with all those bats on patrol!

    1. Very different from others Cynthia.
Didn't see any mozzies but then we don't often see them particularly in winter, just one or two.

  12. Caravan parks have come a long way since the 1960s and 70s. Most are of quite a high standard now, in our limited experience. Good luck with the surgery. I am sure you'll be fine.

    1. Didn't really have anything to do with caravan parks years ago, just in the late 60's used to visit friends parents who were holidaying in one at Devonport for the day only.
Thanks re surgery, nice to be positive :)

  13. Tamworth is a city on the move. Why more immigrants/refugees don't move up that way is beyond me. I think good old Barnaby is trying to get more to move there.
Whether they would vote for him would be - lets say - interesting???

Tamworth has a very big equestrian centre, flying college for airforce personnel from overseas ( the Singaporeans train here ) - excellent educational facilities and a Uni just up the highway at Armidale.
The caravan park is rather grand with obviously the best of facilities. It would be overflowing at festival time. I should imagine booked out years in advance.

As for those bloody bats, I hope the stench of them and their colony can't be smelt from the caravan part.

I am sure that your cataract operation will go well. All the best anyhow.
    Cheers
    Colin

    1. I just remembered and on a far sadder note.
One of my best mates from College days who was a top sports boy - 1st X1 (Cricket) and Ist XV (Rugby Union) who came from the Tamworth/New England region was a top pony club competitor. In the 1997's he was a member of the Australian Olympic Equestrian team (Show jumping) for Mexico City in 1968, whilst training at the Equestrian Centre at Tamworth, his horse baulked at a jump, David went over the horse's head, hit the poles and instantly broke his neck.
I was in PNG at this time and naturally was unaware of this for some time.
I believe he was given quite a 'send off" at the college at St. Josephs, Hunters Hill. David was a very popular and talented student.

    2. That all is very interesting Colin. Sorry about your friend, sounds as if he was talented in that area.
Read a few days ago that the immigrants don't say in the country town, they move to the cities for what reason I don't know as the article didn't say.

  14. The caravan park looks great, think we stayed there a few years ago but don't think we looked around the camp kitchen/pool area as we were too busy sightseeing in Tamworth! We think we should go back again and spend more time just relaxing. Hope your op goes well.

    1. The caravan sites could be better but they are ok. I heard about the campkitchen a long time ago so always go and seek it out, the fire there keeps all warm in the winter, a nice touch.
Eye op went well thanks Rosie...can see a bit better this evening..
