On towards Crows Nest, Queensland

From Tenterfield NSW we passed over the boarder of NSW into Queensland, there are no markings and no sign to say that you have arrived in Queensland (on some highways there is).
We drove through Ballandean Queensland, Warwick, Mount Marshall, Kearneys Spring, on our way to Crows Nest Queensland.

At Ballandean is this dinosaur and across the road the Post Office and Chemist shop.

Taken from the vehicle both photos. A place called Dalveen above and an old bridge along the way.
We didn't come across many road works on this trip in our winter 2018.

Mount Marshall area above then Kearneys Spring shopping centre not far from the city of Toowoomba area

A street in Toowoomba Queensland below.

A rest area along the way, then below is part of the Darling Downs in Queensland.
Have put a link if you wish to visit Wikipedia regarding the that area.

  3. Oh it’s a dinosaur. I thought it was a politician.

  4. In Queensland that dinosaur could be a politician. As is true in much of the country.
Even that area was dry. Love the bridge.

  5. Funny how we put dinosaurs and pollie's together mainly in QLD.
    The country looks very dry.

  6. Qld is the land/state of the dinosaur politicians. You'd be lucky to find a "spec" of a brain amongst them all. The "Deep North" one might say - with the likes of Hanson, Dutton and Christensen plus on the other side - Jacqui Trad!

My God - those photos really show up the drought situation and I guess after your winter trip though this area and with no rain - it looks worse.
I think some rain has fallen recently but it is far too late and too little. Sad times for the rural communities.
Toowoomba is a beautiful city with fine educational facilities and their famous annual flower show.
God !!! Not any water under the broken down bridge.
I hope your readers just observe the severity of this drought and contemplate the seriousness of climate change......the science is all for the beholder to see - IF THEY HAVE EYES?????????
    Good report as always, Margaret.

    1. Thanks Colin. Visited the city centre only once way back in Toowoomba and was very impressed by its beauty. Been going to visit in past years but it was always very foggy in the mornings as we passed through, so always gave the city a miss.

  9. The old railway bridge is good, but not serviceable for trains by the look of it.
