Gayndah Queensland.

After leaving Crows Nest we travelled through Gayndah in Queensland before we arrived to spend a few days in Mundubbera (a post from last year) where we stayed for several days last winter. This winter I didn't take hardly any photos because I had taken them all last year.

Gayndah is a small town with well under 2,000 people.  Oranges and Mandarins are grown in the area.  Called into the 'Big Orange' and what delightful oranges they were selling, the taste was delicious and much better than any orange we had eaten in two years from the supermarket.

Inside the big orange is a bit of history of oranges.
At the gate below.

  2. There is a store here in Ontario called "The Big Apple"and it is the same theme. There is a giant apple visible from the highway, and they sell apples in every form you can imagine. Their pies are pretty good actually.

    1. Well that sound great. We also have 'The Big Apple' at Spreyton near Devonport here in Tasmania but it doesn't sell all kinds of apples..

    1. As far as I'm aware our best Oranges are sent to over 40 export destinations. The top 5 being Hong Kong, Japan, China, United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
We have to put up with dry not nice to taste oranges so our delicious juicy ones are sent to those countries.

  5. Me encantan esas contrucciones realizadas con la forma de la naranja. Aquí en el Sur de España, que es donde yo resido hay buenas zonas naranjeras de excelente calidad.

  7. There is a lot to be said for fruit and vegetables eaten where they are grown. They almost always taste a heap better.

  11. Back in the 50's we had a number of "Giant Orange" stands in California. They were cute. This made me quite nostalgic!
