Not far from Tenterfield NSW

After Barraba NSW  we headed to Warialda (the link) where we stayed a night and also visited last year then drove through Inverall, Glen Innes then Tenterfield where we stayed a night.
The map below shows the way we went.

Inverell NSW we drove through.

Below Glen Innes NSW as we drove into town, just passing through.
Plus we stopped for some diesel.

Not far south from Tenterfield NSW is this picnic area below and that large rock is called Bluff Rock.
The gumtrees were interesting as they had this amber colour to some of the leaves.

    1. Gosh not a lot of mountains about in that area even though we were high up there are not that many cliffs, that is the nature of the country.

    1. Thanks.
The price of diesel varies throughout Australia, some towns are very expensive

  3. Still very dry.
I do love our country towns and you are reminding me (again) that it is time to go look at some again.

    1. Always lovely to see our country towns, so many of them are the backbone of our country.

  4. Seeing that Woolworth’s store reminds me so much of our recent trip. We shopped there, and stopped for gas quite a bit.

  5. It's cold here in Virginia USA. I like the scenic roads you travel.

  6. Certainly a circuitous route. Anyhow you did miss "The Infamous Pinch" part of the New England Highway.
I thought you may have photographed the Popular Trees along the highway.....they are really something. It is really a lovely drive up via Tenterfield - the home of Peter Allen - "The Boy from OZ" fame.
Glen Innes is beef and lamb country - excellent meat comes from that area but is is not a place to visit in winter - the freezing winds go straight through you.
Great photos of the two main streets of lovely and friendly country towns.
I have good memories of school sporting events in both towns way back in the 1950's.
    Cheers
    Colin

    1. Always Shanks likes to go a different route if possible, this one we hadn't been on the way up before from Warialda.
We came through Glen Innes on the way home as well but don't think we stopped and we have been there before with just the car some years ago.
