The other day we ventured up the Liffy, a small town nestled under one area of the Great Western Tiers. In the 2nd and 3rd photo you can see a house which once belonged to Dr. Bob Brown a founder of the Green Party to do with Politics. Much is written about him and you can read a little [ here ] if you are interested.
Liffey also has a beautiful waterfall but it's a climb plus a good walk from the bottom to get to the top, There is also good access from the top via Deloraine in the north west about 50 km from home here.
Part of the Great Western Tiers.
The above photo makes me wonder when people are going or coming around that corner too fast how they don't run into that tree!
The Liffey River which normally is flowing but it is summer still.
Photo of the falls off the internet.
When my husband and I were much, much younger we used to often visit the Liffey Falls, in those days there wasn't a road that was close to the falls so we used to climb up hills, slip back down, fall in the Liffey River but gosh we had fun. No camera back then to document our trips.
The Liffey Falls show mother natures perfection - really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful area there Rosemary, the falls are beautiful especially if it had rained a lot more than what is shown in the photo.
DeleteThat was a nice drive!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine both of you falling in the river and having lots of fun, fun that the young people of today have no clue how to experience.
Oh yes we did have fun Catarina, in those days you certainly made you own fun all the time. We have many adventures, doing it that way.

DeleteWhat an interesting area, love that waterfall! I would love to walk the forest in that area.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful walk, and several to have in that area. However, there are leeches that may get on your skin but that's not a problem either.
DeleteAwesome place...
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful there Ashok.
DeleteBeautiful place.
ReplyDeleteIt is Anne. There was a lot of rain a few years ago so that area was closed to landslips (small) and it's no open again.
DeleteLovely pictures of the house hidden among trees, and of the beautiful waterfall!
ReplyDeleteOne the house was more visible from the road, it's well preserved and looked after. That waterfall is beautiful as you say Duta.
DeleteLa belleza de la zona, invita a pasear por ella. Los paisajes son preciosos y especialmente el de la cascada.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
There are walking paths in that area, and of course they have been upgraded and are good now so I'm told.
DeleteThe Liffey waterfall looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is in my book too Angie. We used to drink the water as it was and looked very clean.
DeleteMe enamore del río. Es tan lindo al igual que la cascada. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely river there, beautiful fresh water and it tastes good too.
DeleteI like the look of the waterfall, very nice photos
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo-Anne, lovely area.
DeleteThe falls look very nice in the photo but I bet at times they could be raging.
ReplyDeleteYou really haven't had the rain this summer that we have copped, well in January anyway.
When it's been raining heaps the falls are magic to see.
DeleteNo we haven't had much rain at all this summer, everything is ever so dry...and of course there have been fires up in the high country as well, but I think it's not too bad.
That waterfall is very nice!
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely.
DeleteThe falls are beautiful. I imagine people on that road would see the upper branches of that tree before they rounded the corner, so they'd know to watch out.
ReplyDeleteHopefully most people would see those branches R, but there will be someone who doesn't and probably already has been in the past. Locals would know that tree is there.
DeleteWhat beautiful photos of a very beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteI really love the waterfall.
Greetings Irma
Thank you Irma. It is a lovely waterfall and worth visiting several times.
DeleteI'd love to live in that house!
ReplyDeletehugs

DeleteNaturaleza pura con aguas transparentes Margaret. Preciosa la cascada.Gracias.
ReplyDeleteBuena semana.
Un abrazo.
Lovely area and good water Laura.
Deletewow such a glorious site dear Margaret !
ReplyDeletea place is special when you have beautiful memories attached to it :)
it was good to read how you and your hubby both used to play their and climb up and roll down into river ,i loved this part because it awakes my memories about our running and jumping into our stream flowing by the town ,it was enormous joy as kids and it is bad to see how all rivers and streams have shrunk now .
true about the tree ,it is on the way exactly for fasters
Fantastic landscapes, I especially loved the last photo with the waterfalls.
ReplyDeleteIt looks a beautiful area, I enjoyed seeing these photographs.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
