Love to see Bees in the garden particularly on the plants. This Lavender to me is a pretty one and we call it Spanish Lavender. We used to have a fishpond in the back yard but it's long gone!
Hello Margaret, Nice pictures of these wonderful Lavender plant with beautiful flowers. Nice to see with the bees as his visitors. We have this plant in our garden too (only now without bees..hihi..).
How bees do love lavender. My grandmother used to have lavender bags everywhere and my mother used to spray her pillow with lavender, apparently as a sleep aid.
I believe the same lavender that's in the photos are called something else now in some areas, if it's got a frill looking top to me it's a Spanish Lavender...maybe some my import one lavender the Spanish type and propagate it and then sell them.
I had a similar lavender bush in my previous home, then one day it suddenly died, ex-who-was-staying-with-me said it probably got sunburned from the heat from the iron fence and he'd plant something else there for me. Liar, thinks me. Lavenders are tough and this one had been there since before I'd moved in, so he planted a yellow daisy bush and I kicked him out. I lnew he'd poisoned the lavender with Roundup.
I too am a fan of bees, but don't care for wasps which we don't see often at our house - haven't seen one this summer yet. They like meat and we barbecue lots of that in our summer.
Barb and I used to have a couple of bee colonies. Until we found out that our son was allergic. We have talked about giving it a try again one of these days.
That's interesting, many people are allergic to bee stings, my late mother was and always carried the antidote with her. Good luck if you try again to have bees..
Nice images, lavender is a flower that I like a lot, its purple color is very beautiful and special to paint. The bees, their work, their honey is something that is in our family, I have some who are dedicated to it, they are beekeepers and they sell the honey of the bees. Happy Sunday. Best regards
Margaret, I found out that it's very hot in Australia just like it's here, since we're both south of the equator. Despite this, it seems that the bees are very active.Kisses
Preciosas imágenes de esta bonita y florecida lavanda, con su abeja, señal de que la vida continua...el día que dejemos de verlas, así como a las aves, malo será porque puede ser el principio del fin de la humanidad. Un abrazo, Margaret.

ReplyDeleteGood on you River. Yes, Roundup will kill it.
DeleteLavenders like the dry, warmth and cold winters.
I have become a big fan of bees. I love the big bumblebees the most. However, I hate wasps/hornets and yellow jackets. They are not nice people.
