My Ethnicity DNA is 62.8% Irish, Scottish and Welsh.
36% Scandinavian.
1.2% Greek and South Italian.
The most surprising was Scandinavian, Greek and South Italian. It seems I have cousins living all of this world - just amazing.
A few more photos of the risen waters in the Tamar River here in Launceston, Tasmania Australia.
The photo above shows the toilets where the water level has risen to.
The photo below is of the swimming pool and the basin, in the 2nd photo you can only see water.

ReplyDeleteWe should be on alert for fires and floods and hope it isn't too bad when it happens. I'm also amazed that I have no England blood in me, though several ancestors were born in England..

DeleteI'm Scottish (Highlander) on my maternal side with a wee touch of the Irish on my maternal great-grandmother's lineage. And on my paternal-side, I'm Irish...Northern Irish...from Armagh, County Armagh. I'm second-gen Aussie on my paternal side of things.

You are interesting Lee then. I have no idea where my Scottish came from at this point, most of my ancestors that I have a record of come from Ireland and England yet England wasn't detected, so it's all before these rellies I expect.

I'm sure climate change has a lot to do with so much rain Irma, then on the other hand we get rain as we have had down here from time to time, as long as I can remember, we've had worse...not sure about the rest of Australia being worse this year, but I expect so.

ReplyDeleteOh yes a big surprise on the Greek and South of Italy, then of course even more surprised re Scandinavian bit. Apparently have many relatives of course 3rd cousins in Canada, well all over the world.

DeleteWhat a lovely blend of ethnicity you are Margaret. It’s fun to find these things out. My sister-in-law just had hers done, and I’m thinking of it too. I don’t think any of us are 100% of one, and now that science has come such a long way with DNA, it’s fun finding these things out. I have people in my family who went to Australia and America and missionaries in Africa, but the last part was learned by hubby’s genealogy search. Who knows what a DNA investigation will turn up. So sorry to hear about your floods and hope they abate soon. You took great photos, gave me goose bumps knowing what people have had to deal with. On a happier note, the flower in your header shot is absolutely stunning. Those red petals looked like a bow underneath. Anyhow, hope those water levels drop very soon. My heart goes out to all the people who have been affected.

I just discovered by doing research one line of my family came from France though that doesn't show up in the DNA as the DNA goes back in time.
