This building is not far from Bendigo in the State of Victoria.
We came across the sign at Myers Flats as we were driving through on our first day travelling and headed to see what it was.
Had breakfast at Kyneton, Victoria instead of having it on the ship, not enough time!
This stop over was most welcome as it was a chance to have a good walk around.
Horse races are held at Kyneton - they are racing at Kyneton! So the commentator says..
These first 4 photos were taken with my phone camera.
The Great Stupa
Starving we were, so this small cafe was very welcome on the cold, foggy, wet morning after driving off the boat some distance. Of course a wrong turn was taken just out of Melbourne and somehow we ended up behind Tullamarine Airport, Melbourne. However the mistake was soon rectified and off we went.
To the left which we can't see was a big fire that helped to keep us warm.
The Hotel in Kyneton, Victoria.
Once a Bank, now flats.
Not much happening here.
Wonderful photos, Margaret. Loved the first building shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks. The first photo turned out alright I thought. It's a large building.
DeleteGreat story . I liked much the buildings the first and last picture .
ReplyDeleteKisses
The last building has me wondering, does anyone live there as an example..
DeleteAre you still on your trip?
ReplyDeleteNo. Home.
DeleteAs i said a few times, i will post/blog more photos and news of our holiday when i got home.
I guess with your poor eyesight you may have missed those posts..:)
The temple? will be amazing when it is completed. I am trying to think if I have been to Kyneton as it looks familiar but then so many country towns look like this.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's a temple...i didn't see when i researched it, could have missed it.
DeleteYou are right, many towns look similar because they were probably all inhabited about the same time...
Gorgeous shots !! These buildings are beautiful !!
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Thank you Ela..they are not that old but look oldish...
Deletewhat phun wanderings (and shots)
ReplyDeleteWas fun, something different travelling Australia.
DeleteBack to civilisation!
ReplyDeleteYes home...
DeleteLove that bank conversion.
ReplyDeleteSo many religious buildings are big. Very big. Would love to see the jade Buddha.
Would be rather great to see the Jade Buddah...if we ever go past that way again will call in, hopefully it will be there..
DeleteThat bank building was really lovely...
It looks wet and cold but then that's Melbourne for you.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very unusual building.
Merle............
Very unusual.
DeleteWas cold and dreary that morning...but that's winter some days...
Great photos, cold and wet is what it is like here today
ReplyDeleteOh dear but i guess you need rain.
DeleteI wonder how different Kyneton is now, from the sixties, when Aussie author Kerry Cue lived there and her father was the Police Sergeant.
ReplyDeleteThe Great Stupa is very, very white!
I like the old Kyneton buildings.
Extremely white and i wonder how long it will stay like that.
DeleteI had not been there before to Kyneton but i guess it hasn't changed that much..
I like the architecture of the brick buildings. I wonder if the buddha is a new one or an old one.
ReplyDeleteThe Budda i suppose will be a replica of the original one but in Jade.
DeleteYes - Margaret.
DeleteAll the Buddhist temples world wide have replicas of the Golden Buddha in the Wat Traimit Temple near the Royal Palaces in Bangkok.
This Wat in BKK is open at times for tourists but I guess now with the security problems - World Wide - standing in a queue to be checked would be rather tiresome.
Such a pity as the Golden Buddha is really something to see.
Cheers
Colin
The Gold Buddha must be wonderful to see. I expect you have viewed.
DeleteSecurity these days must be near enough a nightmare there..the queues forever long at busy times!
Yes - it is breathtakingly magnificent.
DeleteYes with the security upgrade now - queues would be tiresome, but
that in this day and age is now the "NORM".
Colin
Lovely series of photos, Margaret. The sandwich you had looks simple but tasty. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.
DeleteThey were good as we were very hungry.
A very interesting post Margaret! That Stupa looks amazing! You take great photos! I have been looking back through your blog and enjoying the photos you took on your trip. You certainly covered a lot of ground and it looks like you had a great time! It must be nice being home again too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Wendy.
DeleteYes, it's good to be home.
I'm confused....not an uncommon occurrence for me, I know...but I'm sure I called you "Janice" a couple of responses ago...because of the name on the photos. So please accept my apologies, Margaret. :)
ReplyDelete:) I tend to confuse some people Lee..
DeleteYes, you did call me Janice, that is ok...you see that's my name and Margaret is my second name which I'm mostly known by.
I now put Janice on my photos due to various people buying my photos, a few travel websites link to my posts, some government bodies buy some of my photos for tourism.
I originally I had 'whiteangel' and when I discovered the links I decided that, that name wasn't appropriate. Once on the internet you never used your own name - these days one does.
I hope that helps with my name.
