The view from the top.

The hairpin bends.

One of the views from the lookout.

On the side of the path to the lookout, flowers.

The very small village which consists of accommodation, Cafe, Ski hire.

A closer look at accommodation.

The Cafe on the left and in the middle the Ski hire place.

You can just see the pole where the ski lift goes.

  3. That is quite a windy road, Margaret, and it looks like you might need a bit more snow to ski. Have a wonderful time.

    1. Rosemary, we don't have a clue as to what that little flower is called. It was very windy right there so I couldn't get a very still photo of it.

  5. No exaggeration to call them hairpin bends. The views must be amazing. How about a return visit in winter?

    1. Great views. Well that could be on the cards in winter, but not in the heavy snow time, if there is once of course.

    1. I can relate to the weather as in when it's hot in your country it's cold here, and I too can't imagine being warm. Though it's not as cold here in winter as you say it is where you live. Hugs M xox

  7. Glad you showed the view from the top. The road looks like a hairy ride. The scenery is beautiful. What is the nearest town to Ben Lomond?

    1. Be a hairy ride in winter with snow, it's a busier narrow road and really only one way. Gosh nearest town would be a town with only one or two houses. Launceston is the nearest city.

  8. Oh what a view, and those hairpin turns not something I would like to take but Tim would and he wouldn't slow down a lot either

    1. :) He wouldn't slow down, well that's ok, the road is narrow and he might have to or he would go over the side, it's a long way down to the bottom :)

  10. Hello Margaret,

It does look strange to see ski resorts when there is no snow. A totally different landscape altogether without its white sheet.

The hairpin bends look alarming to say the least. However, we should find skiing down the slopes equally scary!

Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

    1. For me it's usual to see the mountain without any snow most of the year.
Thanks for your comment, lovely to have you return.
Happy New Year to you both for 2015.

    2. Well you learn something everyday, as they say.
I had never heard of skiing fields in "The Apple Isle".
I knew of magnificent mountain trails, great food and the
end of the SYD/HBT world famous yachting classic and
well - rather difficult Senators every election.
The road to the summit is on the scary side.
      Cheers
      Colin

    3. Really about the skiing! We have two places to ski, the other is Mt. Field. Of course all depends on snow :)
You are very right about the Senators!
