Wallabies are a small marsupial whereas the Kangaroo is larger.
These photos were taken down the east coast of Tasmania at Friendly Beaches as is the beach scene.
The gumnut tree is the woody fruit of a eucalyptus tree of which there are many varieties. The last two photos of the Wallabies were taken here in Launceston, Tasmania.
That's a big fellow!!
ReplyDeleteNice beach.
They do look big but they are not as big as the 'big red'.
DeleteThey're so Cute! Probably not cuddly though...lolol
ReplyDeletehugs
Donna
They can claw you and make dreadful injuries Donna, it always pays to be cautious.
DeleteCan you the woody fruit from the eucalyptus tree be used for anything?
ReplyDeleteNot fit for humans Rosemary.
DeleteBut I found this on the internet..'Gumnuts are a feature of all eucalypts and are a favourite food of rosellas, cockatoos, galahs, parrots and even native cockroaches! Nectar loving birds and bees are also frequent visitors to eucalyptus trees'.
What a beautiful beach view!
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed gorgeous there and one of my most favourite views.
DeleteSu simpática imagen, provoca ternura.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
It sure does, but we have to be careful because they can give you nasty injuries.
DeleteBeautiful scenes - and well fed wallabies.
ReplyDeleteThank you EC. Yes, plenty of meat on them..they come from a good paddock!
DeleteThey are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThey are and have cute faces.
DeleteAs a child I called them little kangaroos, they are so cute n my opinion
ReplyDeleteIndeed they are Jo-Anne, love watching them.
DeleteMargaret, I learned from a TV show that kangaroo meat is edible as it is lean and low in fat (1-2%).
ReplyDeleteIts texture is soft and tender, and its flavor resembles that of beef or beef, with a slight taste of game.
Due to its low fat content, it is recommended to cook it slowly or stir-fry it quickly
That's true in what you heard but it's a strong meat and we don't eat it. Years ago my late mother used to cook it but she always put a lot of beef mince with it and make kangaroo patties.
DeleteWallabies in NZ are considered as pests
ReplyDeleteGosh, really! Too many of them I guess.
DeleteWallabies are cuter and much less threatening than kangaroos. I'm sure they can still do damage though.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Andrew, if you did the wrong thing with a wallaby it would be nasty.
DeleteSmaller than the "roos" but just as capable of slashing you with their paws
ReplyDeleteand feet which makes a mess of you.
At last here in Terrigal some warm sun but cold at night - well my version of cold!
However the surfboard riders are out in force at the beach!
One wonders DO THEY HAVE JOBS???????????????
Cheers
Colin
Yes, Colin they too can cause damage as in injuries just the same as a large kangaroo.
DeleteSurfers, shit work, casual work that gives them time to surf.
Wallabies are so cute!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Margaret.
Have a great week ahead!
Thank you Veronica.
DeleteIf I lived near that beach I would be there every day!
ReplyDeleteI do know how you love the beach. There are no houses there R, it's National Park.
DeleteGreat photos of the Wallabies.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Irma
Thank you Irma.

ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa.
DeleteBrings back great memories for me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful David.
DeleteBeautiful animal
ReplyDeleteThey sure are Ashok.
DeleteLovely animal.
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed Anne.
DeleteBonitas fotos los canguros siempre me han parecido unos animales admirables.
ReplyDeleteFeliz semana
Saludos
That is true Jose.
DeleteI'd certainly be cautious around either one, but I have a feeling that the wallabies might not be as ... uh... relaxed as their larger cousins. But what do I know....?
ReplyDeleteSome wallabies are rather tame due to their interaction with humans. As for the bigger kangaroos, some of those are the same and you don't often see a 'big red' a lot of areas but of course caution is always the things to do.
DeleteThe wallabies seem to be cute creatures!
ReplyDeleteThey look cute Duta, but never trust them.
DeleteUy me enamore. Amo a los canguros. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThank you JP.
DeleteImagenes bellas y variadas, amiga
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWhat a beautiful animal and beach. I have never seen one in person, thanks for sharing.

DeleteSo nice to see the wallabies, and that beach scene is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thank you Jan.
DeleteThey are cute and they look like their fur is thicker than those up here. Understandable.
ReplyDeleteYes fur thicker Diane.
Deletethanks for sharing wonderful photos of these lovely creatures dear Margaret
ReplyDeletei often wondered if you have kangaroos in area where you live
they look exactly like them but are smaller specie amazing :) blessings
Yes we do have wallabies where we live Baili, sometimes they come to the front lawn - we know because of what they leave behind. There is a little bit of bush down the hill, so they come from there.
DeleteMargaret
ReplyDeleteI realise looks aren't everything. But the Tasmanian Devil looks very nasty while the Wallabies look peaceful, friendly and welcome in our treescapes.
The Devil is a nasty creature Hels, not good looking either! The Wallabies do have a sweet face even when they look crabby.
DeleteHow beautiful and cute the Wallabies are.
ReplyDeleteFantastic 👏 photos
Have a wonderful month of june
Thank you Maria.
