Last day of Winter

We went from Launceston to Scottsdale on the last day of winter and I took these shots at a rest stop with a view of the valley below which is the rural town of Scottsdale in the North Eastern area of Tasmania. Lovely to see the Tasmanian Wattle out as well.
Many bends in the road which is called the Sidling, then we went down the east coast going through Welborough Pass another windy road to St. Helens, then back up to St. Mary's Pass another windy road, but fun in the new car.  I drove so couldn't take any photos other than the ones below.

The new car which is a Kia Selton GT AWD 2023 model top of the range Petrol car. It has a few different things in it than in Europe and America as this model shown is for Australia. The roads we take sometimes don't have electric stations so hence the petrol, and seeing as we go (sometimes) for a long ride when we go we would need to refuel etc.

The rest stop not far from Scottsdale and just off the Sidling with a good view of the rual area.  Some of the photos were taken with my Nikon and some with my phone.

  1. Beautiful views. We have only one charger here in town for electric cars. I think there has to be more charging stations built before everyone gets comfortable driving the electric cars. Did you get a bow with your new car? :)

    1. We have a few charger stations in our city. We don't see that many cars on the road that need them at this stage.
The red bow is just for show by the seller...looks good though.
Great view from the sidling there at the rest stop, better on a lovely clear day.

    2. You sent me down a rabbit hole today. We had to hang around while tradies did their work and I spent a good bit of time revisiting out trip through the area, principally to where our late friend was raised by his grandmother, near Royal George up Merrywood Road. It was a scary place but we did have a great drive.

    3. I meant to answer this a few days ago but got waylaid - Royal George, well it's certainly not a place I would live as the crows fly backwards there Andrew..lol Have been there on a drive and it's good country.

You now have spring and we have autumn, well autumn, the temperatures are not good at all, in the afternoon it is still 30 degrees Celsius, I hope that the heat is over soon because I can't stand it at all.

Well that's nice and warm or hot being 30 degC, I personally like that type of heat as long as I can sit and enjoy it, but I do know it's not for everyone.

  12. Nice car! Electrics don't make a lot of sense at this time--- I would have made the same choice.

  13. Love the new car! All electric is Not a good choice. Recharge stations are too far apart here...we don't see many.

  16. Your photos are always so awe-inspiring, Margaret The vista in this group is so similar to here where I live...As I drive along to my local supermarket the view to the west is so much like what you show here.

  17. Can you sit on your veranda, with a cup of tea or a glass of wine in hand, and look over the rural landscape below?
I can sit on the porch with a drink in hand, but all I can see is the block of flats next door.

    1. Oh Hels, once we could sit anywhere on the eastern side of the house and see the mountains in the distance and all inbetween, then houses were built but of course we have to have houses so people have somewhere to live, however, there is a small area in our backyeard where we do sit and look out over the view which is magic. Our house is on the brow of the hill.

Yes, it appears as if someone pulled off the leaves of the daffodils. Some people just can't help themselves, they have to be destructive.

Always looking for a good view of the rural areas, once I used to walk into the bush that was when I didn't have a camera many years ago.

  26. Love the green and rolling hills. Here in North Dakota it is pretty darn flat. As a matter of fact, the highest point in ND is only just over 3,500'. I don't ever see us getting an electric car, but then again, never say never.
