I thought we would venture to another area of Tasmania and away from the sea, but somehow the river is not far from the sea.
We stayed at the Smithton Caravan Park and it was a lovely stay back in March of this year. The caravan park is next to the Duck River in the town of Smithton on the North West Coast.
The photos are of the river when the tide is out, then when the tide is in as the river goes to the sea.

My husband had an accident in the caravan on that trip - he dropped all the ice cream cones and that's the mess..lol.

DeleteFrom the 1950s my parents and the 3 children lived next door to mum's sister and BIL and their 3 children in Melbourne. So every year for a fortnight they hired 2 caravans and 2 large cars to sleep, feed and entertain the 10 people. It was the best fortnight every year :)

ReplyDeleteLovely area around Smithton and it's also where I buy a can of Manuka Honey from a honey man, you go to his house and choose which honey you want leaving the money in a sealed box attached inside another big box.

DeleteAt least the cones look empty which is better then having ice cream all over the place empty cones are easier to clean up. Bloody nice photos of the still water

DeleteBuy the cones and serve up your own icecream should have been much cheaper. Start the vehicle and back to the shops for more cones. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteSmithton is only a small town but it is amazing how it has produced so many talented artists, including performing arts, sports people and others.
It looks nice.
And Duck River Butter which is still made somewhere but not at Smithton now for years. They do have a Wollies at Smithton but the cones B dropped was in the evening as I have ice cream well after dinner.

Seeing we had never stayed there before it was delightful even though the weather wasn't the best. The mess was laughed at Irma, which is good.

Yes, nice view. No I haven't been to Italy, would be lovely to go and see it. Some of my ancestors way back in time came from Southern Italy.
