In South Australia a State of Australia in Mount Gambier there is a Sinkhole called The Umpherston Sinkhole or the Sunken Garden. The sinkhole was once a typical limestone cave that formed by the corrosion of limestone rocks by seawater waves and the sinkhole was naturally created when the chamber's roof collapsed.
These photos were taken in 2003 when we visited the gardens.

ReplyDeleteThat's for sure Angie.
DeleteInteresting site!
ReplyDeleteIt is Duta and something we don't see everyday.
DeleteThat sink hole has made a really lovely hidden garden. I remembering reading about a sink hole in the States where someone's house and car all collapsed into a sink hole!!!
ReplyDeleteI read something like that too, not good when a house and people are involved. This one in SA is pretty when walking through it and on the edge at the top.
DeleteThis would have been a golden dream for landscape photographers! The trees are well trimmed in your photos. It is a beauty
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, just about all the tourists visit this place.
DeleteLove cause by sink hole, fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty nice what they did with it having a nice garden, it's still the same I believe.

ReplyDeleteNature does sometimes do many beautiful things.
DeleteThey did make something nice out of the sinkhole.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Irma
Yes they did, it's in the middle of the city so it's much nicer to see something beautiful than a big hole.
DeleteI love what's been done to make it such an attraction! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteDefiantly make it look good.
DeleteA gorgeous spot. I hope no one was standing on top of it when the roof collapsed!
ReplyDeleteNever heard about anything and it was a long time ago when it happened. In 1886 it was made into a garden.
