Home again, 2021

Home again after being away for 22 days with one week in Devonport, 5 days in Stanley and 10 days in Wynyard Tasmania.  Had beautiful weather however, windy in Stanley.
Devonport is a city along the north west coast of Tasmania.

Hope you have been well whilst I've been gone and I expect some have had the Covid-19 shot.

The photos below are of Bass Strait and the view is from our caravan or a few steps towards the sea.
The blue boat is a freighter and the red one is the ferry to Melbourne called the Spirit of Tasmania. The crossing takes about 11 hours.

The beach is called The Bluff with very little dry sand but a popular beach, a restaurant, play ground for children and picnic areas for humans.  There are also good walks to be had along the foreshore.

  1. I pleased that you had a lovely break away and returned home safely. You didn't venture across the water to Australia this year as you often do.

    1. Thanks Rosemary.
No, not going across to the remained of Australia this year again. Been so many places we don't know where to go that would be different, plus we are a bit long in tooth to travel with the caravan such vast distances now. With Covid-19 we don't know when the borders of the other States and Territories may close including Tasmanian borders - we are all Australian :)

Both boats, the blue and the red one, look gracious.
11 hours to Melbourne? That sounds like quite a long journey!

    1. Thanks you Duta.
It is a long voyage and is nearly a holiday on it's own when going to the mainland. We usually travel on the night sailing but we won't be going with the caravan again but in the future with just our vehicle we wait and see but I don't expect we will.

  6. You were clever to take the beach photo at low tide. My photo of the same beach was at high tide and included lots of dead seaweed.

    1. That beach is not a spectacular one that's for sure. Not the safest either but people do swim in it and have fun.
Well Andrew, the tide was out and coming in most evening we were there :)

  8. We flew from Hobart to Tasmania since taking the ferry, delightful though it may have been, would have occupied a full day of our vacation.

    1. True if you were to sail on a daytime sailing which is not always - we used to sail in the night time then we were early to head up north. Plane is of course much quicker and ideal in your situation.
