Bendigo, Victoria

This is one mighty long caravan, people must live in it all the time, certainly not my cup of tea.

Bendigo in Victoria is a beautiful city with many old buildings, it's a busy city so therefore hard to get a photo of the buildings.

Bendigo was originally a gold rush boom town, and was home to the mid-1900s Central Deborah Gold Mine. The urban population is over 99,000 people making it the 4th largest inland city in Australia.

The fountain is beautiful and is in the middle of the road, hard to take a photo of it so it's taken through the window when travelling.

Part of a street to give some idea of the trees that line the side of some of the street.  An older building below, once again taken as travelling past.

The Chinese cemetery which is well looked after.  People buried here from the gold rush times and of course since I presume.

The old cemetery above, didn't get to see the lawn one.

    1. You are welcome.
That was rather a good movie Anita.
As far as I know our swans are mostly black but if we see a white one it's novelty.

  2. Can you imagine parking that van?
I do love the older buildings - and cemetaries are often fascinating (and educative).

    1. It's a mighty long van, one of the longest we've seen in all the years of travelling Australia.
I always prefer older buildings, they have character plus I wonder how they built those buildings years ago without the equipment that we have these days.

  3. Es preciosa la fuente, parece que está en una rotonda.

La caravana tan larga, debe de ser de una familia bien numerosa. no había visto ninguna con tan gran dimensión.

    1. that beautiful fountain is not in the middle of a roundabout, traffic go on either side of it and there is an intersection there.

  4. A beautiful town! The fountain is pretty impressive, glad you took the photo through the window. I've never seen a cemetery without grass before, quite strange looking.
Beautiful new header, I like it. Have a wonderful day!

    1. Thanks re header - view of part of the Tamar River down at what is called 'Riverbend', great picnic area and children's playground.
Most of our cemeteries do have grass, this is the only one I've come across that doesn't have grass but when I come to think of it, some just have gravel.

    1. Like many other cities and towns in Australia they all have English style as you call it. Country towns have some English styles too then they have their own style to suit the heat and the down pours of summer rains.

    1. Merle is seems a massive place and takes some time to go from one end of it to the other, then you have both sides of the main road too that seem to go for a long way.

  8. When I visited Victoria in 2018 I had hoped to visit Bendigo but we ran out of time, and seeing these pictures makes me regret that we missed out.

  9. Bendigo is quite nice. My sister lived there for a year or so, 2009 when bush fires fires entered the town. We visited a couple of times and had good fun and saw many of the sights. No doubt I wrote about it at the time.

    1. I reckon that long caravan would be expensive but then it also depends what's inside.
