Amazing, the day we left Lake Dulverton Margaret Attwood the author of The Handmaid's Tale a TV Series, and of course other books, Margaret popped out of a car as we drove off. Margaret had been in the Hobart area for a few days attending some convention for authors.
Coot and below two plovers.
It is interesting that you should choose this post for so many bird pictures, having met Margaret Atwood, who is herself a dedicated birder.
ReplyDeleteDavid you might enjoy reading this article about Margaret's visit. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/books/2020/feb/29/extinction-is-a-choice-margaret-atwood-on-tasmanias-forests-and-saving-the-swift-parrot
DeleteBeautiful birds! I don’t see them where I live.
ReplyDeleteYou saw M. Attwood. What a coincidence!
Definitely a coincidence, one would recognise her anywhere. Had seen a few photos of Margaret in the newspapers here with a floppy hat on back then.
DeleteSon buenas vistas del lago. Las aves le añaden un gran atractivo y algo más de vida.
ReplyDeleteBesos
Thanks.
DeleteIt looks a beautiful area - and I love the topiary (I assume it is topiary).
ReplyDeleteI am not certain I would recognise Margaret Atwood, despite having read and enjoyed many of her books.
Yes it's topiary, saw them when they first they first took shape wondering what they would be, they have added to them overtime.
DeleteNo trouble for me to recognise Margaret, photos had been in the paper a few days before with a floppy hat on, a small one.
Great images. The birds are beautiful and nice to see. My wife read Attwood's book years ago. I didn't realize it was a tv series now.
ReplyDeleteYes a TV Series The Hand Maid's Tale, enjoying the series but no filming at the moment due to Covid-19...
DeleteBeautiful view😊
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is
DeleteIt certainly looks a lovely area, great photographs again :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan.
DeleteWhile clear shimmering lakes make for great photos, it is good to see one with reeds which will support a lot of lake life.
ReplyDeletewe do normally see clear lakes but not this one, often gets drier than it was.
DeleteSo many lovely photos
ReplyDeletethanks Jo-Anne
DeleteGreat photos - your pair of plovers is good. We have pairs of them here - well they are pretty well all over Australia - and it is nesting time.
ReplyDeleteThat means STAY CLEAR of them - they attack and no Stukka/Spitfire/Zero was as vicious as an enraged plover. They like ears!!!!!
Cheers
Colin
Plovers were safe at that time of year thank goodness, they certainly can be troublesome at times to us.
DeleteThanks
Another wonderful array of photos, Margaret...you certainly do have a treasure trove of them! :)
ReplyDeleteFancy Margaret Atwood being there!
Keep taking good care. :)
thanks Lee. Was pleasantly surprised to see Margaret as we drove passed on our way out be it slowly..
DeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteLovely photos from your visit. You have a beautiful view of the lake for your blog header.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy.
DeleteThe header photos is not the same place. We have a river called the Tamar River and it's on a bend that the blogger header photo was taken.
The Tamar River goes out to sea, to Bass Strait.
Thanks for your pictures-- They proved to be an excellent break from noise and confusion.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThanks again for the lovely photos, and your last photo would be a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the views.
ReplyDeleteThat is where we sat some of the time, it was just outside the door of the van.
DeleteYou are welcome.
Hello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful landscapes. So fantastic to see these wonderful areas with great views.
The plovers are very funny.
Greetings, Marco
I think their markings make those plovers look different :)
DeleteIt's rather picturesque there by the lake.
