Lake Morris, Cairns. Queensland.

Trust everyone had a lovely New Year.
Back to last years holiday 2016 in Winter in Australia.

Whist in Cairns we drove to Lake Morris a beautiful drive up the hills in the rain forest.  Good view looking back on the way down.

Lake Morris is the major water supply for Cairns and was completed in 1976, plus there is a Dam nearby called Copperlode Dam and falls if you wish to climb to view.  There is a picnic area there and a Cafe which was closed the day we drove there.

Vine climbing tree, we saw lots of these

    1. I should imagine in the summer time it would be busier at times, but it's probably too warm and humid in the summer, and it was out winter.

  2. I wish we had some overlooks in Florida...but when you live on a pancake, not a lot of horizons

    1. Flat is certainly a problem to many, but then again it has it's advantages.

    1. Being winter only a few people were about and it began to rain, the photos were hasty and we had to run for cover.

  10. Nice. You didn't make it to the falls? I suppose with tropical rain at the same time every year, Cairns doesn't need huge water storages.

    1. No it was raining and I doubt if B could walk that far, depends on the day to how far he can walk.
Rained whilst we were there in the 'dry'!

  14. Absolutely beautiful. I really do have to get back up to this area. It's been at least 20 years since I visited Cairns.

  15. That first picture is amazing, the way the tree is in the foreground and the rest of the picture is backdrop.

  16. I like the view in the first photo. Including the tree in the foreground enhances the scene.

  17. It is scenically outstanding, especially when one contemplates the weather Queensland sometimes has to deal with.
