The Twelve Apostles, Victoria

Along the Great Ocean Road in the State of Victoria we headed to see the Twelve Apostles a popular tourist area.  The weather was warm for early spring in September 2015.
A lady asked if we would like out photo taken, so we didn't refuse.

A couple of the 'Stacks' have collapsed over time.

Not far from the Apostles there is a large visitors centre and nearby helicopter rides along part of the coast.  I took the below photo as we were on the move as was the helicopter.

  1. A helicopter ride is the best way to get a better view of the place from above. A great place to visit.

    1. Really lovely along the Great Ocean Road, even the trees and hills are wonderful, recently there was a big fire that went for many days in the area.

  8. Great area of Southern Australia.
It was very touristy when I visited and how it got it's name
the 12 Apostles is amusing but far better than the original name
of "The Sow and Piglets" - plus there are only 9 limestone "stacks"
standing - maybe someone thought 9 was 12 and anyhow who will count them - ha ha!
Great photography of a very Aussie region.
Here is the link for readers if interested.

    1. Thanks Merle. In all our journey that was the second photo of the two of us someone else took. Did a few selfies which I don't do often.
We have never been flying in a helicopter either due to my husband who won't fly.

    1. We have never been on a helicopter ride because my husband doesn't care to fly. I believe it is a bit expensive but then it depends on how much you want to do it.

    1. There is a coffee/cafe back at the information centre. Not sure if I would have a picnic there - if you recall it's there we saw that deadly snake!

I love the look of the area - not sure if I could do a helicopter ride - I haven't a good head for heights.
