Wedding Anniversary

60th Wedding Anniversary dinner at the Country Club Casino at Links Restaurant celebrated with family, no photos of family.  Sister-in-law J took the photo.

Thank you all for the lovely comments.

I've had curly hair ever since I can remember, however a few years after I was married, I grew my hair longer and used to iron it with an iron on the ironing board with a tea towel over my hair to help keep it straight.  After a few years or more straighteners came to the fashion scene in about 1980, so I used one of those for many years until about 3 years ago when I let my hair be it's natural self.
If we have curly hair we want straight hair and vice a versa.

I've shown the Casino before, it was in February so these photos below are just a reminder and I forgot to take photos of the Restaurant once again.  I hopefully will think of it next time we go there.

I enjoyed reading about your hair journey. It's so relatable how we often desire what we don't naturally have!

  8. That is a truly lovely photo. I too have curly hair, and I let it do its thing. My mother had curly hair as well but she had hers straightened each week.
    Congratulations again.

  10. What a lovely celebration—and such a relatable hair journey! It's funny how we often want the opposite of what we have, but embracing your natural curls sounds perfect.

Men who have a lot of hair, some want to have a bald head, and those that are naturally bald want hair!

  14. Well ironing my hair would be a disaster - my head would be burnt off - OUCH!
Anyhow I have a #3 cut from the shearing shed.
Lovely sunny day here at last. The surf has been flat and with school now back
    the beach is well deserted

  15. The casino looks nice. I also have curly hair which curls better when short and becomes a frizzy mess when long. I keep it long because I hate going to the hairdresser.

    1. Fair enough. I'm not into wandering off to the hair dresser, she comes to my home as she has a mobile salon and a salon at her home, however, she recently went blind in one eye and on cortisone at the moment with vision slowly returning, she is only about 38. I doubt if she will come here again as she comes or drives to my place from another city, 1 hour away..

  17. Being married for sixty years is not given to everyone, many people do not make it, you have reached this milestone, congratulations.
You look beautiful with your natural hair.

Some women dye their hair until later in life, I have never done that, gray is also a color and I think it suits the age.
I also have some curls, some wave in the hair we say here, it seems like the older I get the more curls come.
I wish you a beautiful week.
    Greetings Irma

    1. Thank you Irma. Beautiful words.
I had jet black hair till the age of 50, a few greys then I went blonde over a short time and had the hairdresser blend the blonde into my grey/white bits of hair, has worked well and now it's all natural. We all have lived life and deserve to have grey hair as we have earned it and not everyone gets the chance.

    1. Thank you Hels.
Some of the people who could have come to our celebration are now long gone, friends just go to the beyond and relations, leaving just a few of us left till our turn comes.
I don't know about being fit, we are doing well so far for our age, but we both surprised ourselves by walking a long way for us to watch the youngest grandson on Saturday play Soccer, his dad is coach of two junior teams and plays himself sometimes in an adult match.

It’s fascinating hearing about your journey with your hair over the years. So many of us can relate to the constant back and forth between curly and straight! I just posted a new blog about Body Confident You: Body Confident Kid, and I’d love for you to check it out and share your thoughts: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2025/05/body-confident-you-body-confident-kid-book-review.html. 1. Thank you Hena. I see some women with dyed hair when older and it often doesn't look good unfortunately - age naturally is my idea but of course it doesn't suit or is not everyones taste.

  29. Hello Margaret
A beautiful place, I've never been to a casino, but maybe one day, even if by chance I'll manage to.
And hair, when you're young you want everything to be so that others will like it, when you're older you care more about your comfort. Regardless of whether you have curly or straight hair you always look lovely!
