Beaches

A bit of trivia on Beaches around Tasmania, Australia.

Well, there are 11,761 recorded beaches around Australia, and I expect including Tasmania my home State which has over 16,000 recorded beaches.  These 11,761 Australian beaches are spread over 50,000+ kilometer of coastline and ever changing.  That's so many beaches that it would take roughly 226 years to see them all if you visited one per week.  So, the coastline is linked by over 10,000 beaches, more than any other country in the world.

Australia does not charge anyone to swim in the sea, it's free coming and going as one pleases.
There are a few beaches that have pebbles on them, even rocks which is normal but mostly there is sand from coarse to very fine grains of sand coloured from dark to white.

The photos are of a few beaches in Tasmania, Australia.

Beach fishing.

A typical entrance to most beaches with a car park provided.

    1. Well at least you get to see the water when you have lakes and rivers. Not everyone can live by the sea due to so many things. Forests and mountains are beautiful too.

  2. The beaches are beautiful. Last week I came across a book that the setting is inTasmania. It's main character is forensic pathologist Dr. Anya Crichton. The author is Kathryn Fox. It's pretty good and only cost 25 cents in a charity shop. :)

  3. Margaret, Argentina, my country, has more than 6,000 kilometers of coastline, where there is no shortage of beautiful beaches. From the world-famous beaches on the Atlantic Coast to the hidden coves of Patagonia, in Argentina. There is a beach for every type of person. As for the water temperature, I guess it will be very similar to those in Australia since it is at the same altitude. The season to enjoy them has already begun here.

    1. Not always easy to get there when you live a little distance from the sea EC.
Always something else to do I expect, and some people are just not beach people.

  5. I grew up in California real close to the beach. Now living in Las Vegas, there's no real beach here and I miss it.

    1. There is just something about living by the sea, the wide open space, the sound of the sea and walking on sand that squishes between your toes. If I want to go to the beach I don't have far to go.
Maybe you will get to see the sea soon..

  6. There is no one on your beach! Do the locals no appreciate it or is unpopulated in your area? Or maybe it is a workday.

    1. People hear don't seem to go to the beach a lot, either weekend or weekday due to the sun as it burns the skin more here in Tasmania than in any other part of Australia, as it can cause skin cancer and so on. In the summer time in school holidays there's more people.
In some areas of Australia the beaches in summer can be quite full with people as those people prefer certain beaches and it might take too long to get to another beach even though a short distance might take a awhile to get there.

    1. They are different beaches photos taken on different days. From memory the fishermen on the east coast on a windy day but then again it's usually windy at the beach, Colin.
Enjoy your time away with your mate.
I expect that silly women won't make a show of herself whilst you are there in Canberra.

  13. Beautiful pictures of the different beaches.
Here in the Netherlands we have beaches along the entire country on the west coast, this is a few hundred kilometers long, further some beaches on the different places that are located on a lake like where I live along the IJsselmeer.
I wish you a beautiful Wednesday.

  17. Your beaches look fabulous.
Here in the UK depending on what part of the coast you are seems to determine the type of beach from sand, to shingle, to rocks and pebbles... even the sand on the beaches can be different!

    All the best Jan

  19. Hello Margaret
Beautiful beaches, I especially like them with that white sand. It's no wonder that Australia has so many beaches, after all it's a big island. It looks much worse here in Poland, there are beaches only in the north and I happen to live in the south of the country, so I rarely have contact with the beach. That's why I look at your beautiful photos with great pleasure.
    Greetings!
Unfortunately, the days are getting shorter here, which is not good for outdoor hikes, there's not much time... :)

    1. So your evenings become much longer when the days are shorter. I suppose you read, watch TV to pass the time in the evening.
So that's a fair distance for you to travel to see the beach then as I looked it up on google.
The white sand on our beaches, just wonderful for it is silky to walk on.
