Merry Christmas to everyone, may you all have a safe and special Happy Christmas.
Last Friday evening and night we went out to dinner near the city center of Launceston, Tasmania, Australia with two of my husbands sisters and one husband. My husband and I had Tasmanian Scallops with salad and chips (forgot to take a photo). After dinner we went to the other side of town to youngest sister in laws for a chat, we got home at 2am.
My husband and I came through the city about 1.35am and I wanted to take a photo of the Cities Christmas Tree in The Mall. There was no one about at all, so I was on my lonesome walking up the middle of the Mall to the middle of the Mall and took my photos.
First photo is of the Town Hall which was built in about 1864, taken from the car.
The tree's changing colors is quite a sight! The Town Hall dated 1864 draws attention and respect. The husband's three sisters seem to be warm, close family for you.
ReplyDeleteI love my husbands sisters and one husband. Beautiful people and we all get on so well and have many laughs when we get together.
DeleteThe Christmas tree was very pretty, would have loved a video of it but thought if I have to dash that would ruin the video stopping it when not finished.
The town hall is a beautiful building and it's used for council meetings one area of it, the other area is where you go and pay your rates and parking fines and so on...I believe there is a free shower there as well!
Interesting to see the city relatively deserted like that. It seems pointless to have all those lights on when there’s no one around to see them.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised myself to see no one about in the Mall that night. The tree helps light up the mall and I expect the city can afford to have the tree changing and I'm sure there are people like me who wanted to take a photo of it at some stage even though it be early hours of the morning.
DeleteMy best wishes for happiness and peace to everyone at this time of year and for the new year.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas
Best regards.
Thank you Jose, the same to you.
DeleteA lovely Christmas tree. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, the same to you.
Lovely words Morfeas, thank you and the same to you and yours.
DeleteThe Christmas tree is gorgeous and the town looks beautiful all lit up. Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos.

ReplyDeleteThank you Angie and to you too and yours.
DeleteMerry Xmas to you and you have a great festive season too
ReplyDeleteThank you, and you too.
DeleteHave a lovely Christmas - we have decided on a low key Christmas this year. There is so much strife and hardships for so many people around the world today.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rosemary. We are not doing anything much for Christmas either, just home for Christmas dinner then to eldest son for Christmas tea...and youngest and his family for dinner Friday evening, so it's all low key.
DeleteIt's very festive and pretty. It must have felt eerie to be there without another soul around.
ReplyDeleteIt did feel strange being in the mall on my own, and any little sound seemed louder, thank goodness it was ok though and certainly worth walking there that short distance.
DeleteVery impressive. Launceston really should take a bow.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas.
Colin
Thank you Colin. Usually the Christmas tree was at one end of the mall but we have a new Mayor, maybe he changed it's position and type of tree.
DeleteThank you for showing us what your city is like. Christmas is already there.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Norma, it was good to be able to show the Christmas tree.

DeleteThe tree is beautiful, how cool you got to photograph it when no one was around; though I've not been up the late for years. Hope you're able to get a nap the next day, I know I would need one. Pretty City Hall also, I love historic buildings. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
Thank you and the same to you.
DeleteI didn't get back into the city, no parking. I too like those historic buildings as they have history and a lot more to offer.

ReplyDelete2am is late for taking walk but I bet it was special and beautiful experience as pics show:)
Yes 2am is a bit late but I wasn't tired as I'm used to staying up till about 1am in the morning and I get up early some morings and don't get tired - but sometimes I do so sleep in as I can.
DeleteAmazing photos. Fantastic Christmas tree.

DeleteThere's something magical about Christmas trees... we're decorating them for the room today and the candles will be lit tomorrow on Christmas Eve.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your great photos... nice to look at.
It's been snowing here since last night, it looks wonderful and fits one of the most famous folk songs of Christmas... here with us... "The snow is falling quietly". It looks so wonderful outside.
Viola wishes you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas.
Thank you and the way you have described you home inside and out, it all sounds just wonderful.
