Just before Christmas we ventured out to find some ripe cherries which we did, the best ones we came across were $25.00 kg of good quality, of course there were some of lesser quality which we also bought, we have been back a few times.
The photos of the cherries not yet ripe on the tree at one cherry farm.
The price seems quite reasonable for good cherries. They rank high on my list of favourite fruits.
ReplyDeleteYes good quality ones are $25.00 a kilo, seconds about $10.00 and there were even some for $6.00, probably a once off price being so low at the Orchard.
DeleteMargaret, I tell you that I love cherries and when I have plenty I usually make jam. Here is my recipe: 1/2 kg of pitted cherries, juice of one lemon and 200 grams of sugar. cook over the fire, stirring from time to time. How do you know if it's ready? Place a little on a plate and see the point you want. Sometimes I usually mix it with blueberries and strawberries.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recipe Norma, looks a good one.
DeleteThey look lovely red.
ReplyDeleteThey will or would have been redder when ripe Anne.
DeleteI love cherries and these look good.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure whom ever bought them enjoyed them...We are eating the variety called Van at the moment, they are a large tasty cherry.
DeleteYum. We had some good cherries for Christmas too. A delicious tradition. I hope your day was delightful.
ReplyDeleteGood on you EC. Always cherries for Christmas.
DeleteYes, thank you we had a quiet Christmas but a lovely one.
Da gusto verlas, con ese hermoso color rojo. Muy buenas y sabrosas, deben de estar.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
The ones I'm eating are very tasty and they are called Van.
DeleteRipe cherries right before Christmas – what a delightful find! The photos of the cherries on the tree capture the anticipation of their ripening. Cherishing these moments and the delicious taste of the season.

DeleteI don't not like cherries but I am not a big fan of them
ReplyDeleteEach to their own Jo-Anne and that's ok.
DeleteCherries look so lush red among the green
ReplyDeleteThey sure do, those the ones in the photos are not ripe, the ones I'm eating are very dark in colour.
DeleteWhen we wanted to lose some middle aged weight gain, the first task was to cut out all desserts and eat only fresh fruit instead. Pineapple, watermelon, mango or strawberries, but cherries are our absolute favourites.
ReplyDeleteI believe cherries are my favourite followed by strawberries then raspberries which I eat a lot of when available though strawberries are available all year a round these days.
DeleteGood way to lose wieght Hels.
Se ven muy buenas, por aquí también hay muchas cerezas, pero ahora no, empiezan por el mes de abril. Abrazos Margaret.
ReplyDeleteWhen you will be eating cherries I won't be Teresa seeing as we live in the opposite side of the world and in seasons.
DeleteA mi me encantan las cerezas- Feliz navidad para ti y tu familia. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThank you JP.
DeleteSo many cherries per tree! I had a tree once that gave me two cherries its first year and a full kilo the second year. Then I moved and donated the tree to the community farm. I haven't bought a single cherry this year, the prices are way out of my budget since the storms in the hills decimated the crops.
ReplyDeleteThat was kind of you to donate the tree R. I noticed that cherries were not that cheap in the supermarket either.
DeleteThey look so GOOD, though quite expensive.
ReplyDeleteYes they are expensive the good quality ones but well worth it. You can purchase cheaper ones which are nearly as nice.
DeleteMuy bellamente captados esos tomatitos.
ReplyDeleteFelices fiestas, amiga
Thank you, it was very windy then taking the photos but camera managed :)
DeleteThese cherries look good and so many on the tree.
ReplyDeleteI love cherries, too bad it's winter here.
Greetings Irma
When it's your summer and it's my winter, you might be eating cherries Irma.. :)
DeleteHow nice to see the smell of ripening cherries. It's just gray here and there's nothing on the trees, but the good news is that the days are slowly starting to get shorter... Best regards.
ReplyDeleteI just had some cherries after arriving home from a friends home after having lunch there, the cherries are delicious and the ones on the trees I should imagine are now picked and most likely eaten.
DeleteWow che spettacolo queste ciliegie.
ReplyDeleteHanno un meraviglioso colore rosso fuoco.
Buone feste !!!
