A walk in the bush down Dip Falls way.

A short walk in the bush in North Western Tasmania is a delight.  Tall trees, dirt roads and man ferns.

The big tall tree there is over 400 years old so I read and forgot to put in the original post. It stands about 62 meters tall and with a circumference of 16 meters.

  1. When I see ferns like that, the first thing I think of are mosquitoes. When we lived in Wisconsin, we had a lot of ferns, that is where the mosquitoes hung out during the day, if you disturbed them, they would swarm up and attack you.

    1. I can understand the mozzies being about because they are in some areas, never encountered any where we walk, maybe summer time there might be some. Best be covered up.

    I love the ferns.
It's autumn here and almost all the trees are now bare.

    1. Thanks Irma, in our bush there are always leaves on the trees, the only leaves that are not there are mostly in the gardens, streets and where man planted decidious trees...Tasmania only have one decicious tree and it's usually grows in higher areas.

    1. The ferns and where we were was in higher ground and there is enough rainfall there for the bush.

  10. For bushland that I assume gets quite reasonable rainfall it looks quite open. So many ferns are wonderful to see.

    1. It is rather open in that area as I guess when the road was built and a pathway into part of the bush machinery was parked and used, so hence the space Andrew.
