The Lookout

Forgot in the previous post to include this bird.

Update.  The name of the bird is a Pacific Gull.  Thank you [ David ]

View from the look out at Friendly Beaches.  Also the  walkway to it and we did watch for snakes.

It's called a Banksia.

    1. Where ever we walk in the bush in late Spring, Summer or early Autumn we have to look for snakes here as they are all poisonous, they do no harm if you see one just don't move or get in it's way.

  9. The bird looks like a gull of some kind. It looks surprisingly dry but the soil would be very sandy.

    1. Well I didn't know what kind of gull it was but David said it's a Pacific Gull Andrew. It was a bit dry as it was summer time when I took the photos.

  10. "Joe Blakes" eh?
Looks like great terrain for them.
I think a solid walking stick would be a good idea - the whacking variety.

Plenty of banksia around my neck of the wood - have a good one growing beside
    my front porch.

Photo 3 - that needle like plant - ouch ! They are here also and they do hurt
    if you brush against them.

Great report and photos which is your forte.
    Cheers

    1. Thanks Colin.
Those plants are a bit spikey, used to know their name but can't remember now.
Banksias seem to grow well in many areas in Australia.
Snakes, well we take them as they come, surprisingly we don't see that many.

  20. I like those beaches of clean and appetizing soft sand, the seagulls although around here there are those who say they are the rats of the sea but they cheer up with their song.
    Best regards.

    1. We are ever so lucky here with our sand it's nearly always silky or very fine sand. Well seagulls do eat many things, one even took a 'chip' out of my mouth when we were on holiday.
