The Spiky Bridge on the Southern East Coast of Tasmania is no longer required so the highway goes around it these days. In days gone by the bridge was used so cattle travelling along the road would not fall down into the gully below. The photo is where a farm house once was with a few stone only being left if you look hard.
You are in dire need of rain.
ReplyDeleteWe are as not much rain has fallen down the east coast at all.
ReplyDeleteYes a good memory of years gone by and it's become a tourist attraction now.
DeleteProgress has come there. Surely with a good road in its place.
ReplyDeleteYes the road is certainly different now, it's a bit windy and narrow as it was built a long time ago.
DeleteCan't tell it was farm house before...the place looks very deserted.
ReplyDeleteIt does look deserted and one can hardly see any on the remains of the house that once was, it's a tourist attraction these days is the Spiky Bridge.
DeleteLove that spikey bridge. Thanks for featuring it. I like your camellia header too.
ReplyDeleteThanks re header, camellias just come into bloom up the side of the house. Interesting is that spiky bridge, some good ideas way be when.
DeleteDe la casa apenas queda nada. Debe de haber tenido bastantes años de abandono.
ReplyDeleteQue tengas una buena semana. Besos.
That is a rather interesting construction.
ReplyDeleteYes the house it seemed no one cared that it fell to the ground, I think these days someone properly wished it was still there.
DeleteBizarre spot! The spiky bridge was built by convicts, and it is an historical attraction for visitors.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct Duta, a long time ago and they did a good job building it as it has lasted.
DeleteWow.............
ReplyDelete:)
Times change therefore most things change...Thank you
ReplyDeleteA long time ago, it is interesting what was once done to get cattle from one place to another, these days they use trucks.
DeleteThere is something interesting around every corner!
ReplyDeleteThere is indeed as you well know as we have many corners like other places in this world.
DeleteA very interesting landscape. Here you can clearly see the passage of time.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Maria, one passage gone.
DeleteMargaret, your entry today did not come out Wild things (August 9)
ReplyDeleteOh, ok. Thanks.
DeleteThank you for highlighting The Spiky Bridge, I'd not heard of it before.
ReplyDeleteI did a google search and there is a lot of information about it ... so thank you.
All the best Jan
Interesting isn't it. I too found a fair amount of information, interesting read.
DeleteI think I have bypassed this bridge when I was last there in 2012! I did a lot of bokeh shots on these sharp looking shards on the bridge. Beautiful images
ReplyDeleteI'm certain if you went up or down the east coast you would have seen this spiky bridge. Thanks.
Shame in a way that things from the past are left in ruin in some areas.
DeleteAn interesting construction... I hope it will rain soon where you are... we also urgently need rain here.
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is different. It's supposed to rain today where I live but no rain as yet!
Deletei found stones intriguing the way they appear as ruins .
ReplyDeletefew of our cities are having rains again but no ours though . i got from your words that spiky bridge exists no more ??
Hopefully it rains here today, it's supposed to so waiting. The spiky bridge is still there but it's not used for the purpose it was built for, it's now used as a tourist attraction and the highway has gone a different way.
DeleteThat is a very interesting bridge and a clever construction to safeguard the cattle. I don't think I have ever seen anything like it.
ReplyDeleteWe used to travel down our east coast many times years ago and never knew it was there until one day there was a sign, the road was partly done so then we knew it was there, these days the road has improved, signage also.
DeleteI like those original constructions that are seen, it seems that there is also a lack of rain as here, at this point in the summer we are with a lot of salt and terrible drought.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Best regards.
Besos.
