Arrived

Must tell you this:   Granddaughter aged 13 went with a friend from school on Friday to the Cemetery  just over the hill from home, we call it 'The Dead Centre'.  Anyway M and a friend went there for a look and M went to the loo whilst there.  Youngest son who lives here at home received a distressed phone call from M.  'What do you do when the toilet door won't unlock', she said, son says 'well get under the door', but wasn't to be as the door was a full one.  So son went to the Cemetery to rescue his middle child (teenager)  by breaking the door as he couldn't undo the lock or open the door!  I'm still giggling. Certainly not a nice feeling being locked in the Loo in a Cemetery.

It took us 4 hours to drive from home in Launceston to the Huonville Caravan Park, it was a very windy day with big gusts of wind every now and then.  When we drove into the Caravan Park we were greeted with smiles by the Owners as they have got to know us now seeing as we've been for several Christmases and Easters.  Our favourite site was there for us, down by the river with lovely green grass and a concrete slab to park the caravan on and when we open the door of the caravan we step onto concrete.
We asked for the site next door for our eldest son his wife and their two little ones, so it was saved for when they arrived in a few days time, Christmas Eve.

The photos are of where we parked and a small part of the river, the sand is carted from 7 mile beach some distance away and cost $3,000.00 AUD, wow that is a lot of money but it sure keeps the children happy,  we all call the sand and the river 'The Beach'
There are more photos to come of the caravan park that I took as the days passed by.

The owner and one of his employees putting up the Christmas Tree.  My Santa in the caravan and some more decorations which I crocheted before Christmas and hung them on the curtain rods.

  1. Hope the door wouldn't cost too much! What an experience! That's a very beautiful river...or sand and beach :-))

Spare the thought of being locked in the loo, just dreadful but as time passes it would be funny, a tale to tell..

    1. Felt sorry for M, but it's also funny and she can see the funny side of it too. So pleased she had her phone with her, would have been not funny at all if she didn't.

I expect it won't be too long and you will have green grass again instead of white.

  5. Margaret, I'm afraid I won't be able to open the door of the airplane toilets!!...With my parents I traveled with a caravan throughout Argentina and some neighboring countries. What a great time we had in it!

    1. Dreadful thought Norma to be in a plane and not be able to open the door, I expect a foot or a handbag if possible up against the door or tell the hostess and she can keep and eye on things, so to speak.
I bet you did have great fun travelling with your parents, it's a good education in one way to see how other people live and you meet so many people all ages too.

  8. Very festive and what a beautiful place to stay.
My mother was once locked in toilet. To many people's annoyance, she now has an aversion to closing a toilet door.
I suppose the sand must wash away when the river rises.

    1. Oh your poor mum, can understand her leaving the door open, the experience would make you want to leave the door open, I would be the same if it happened to me.
Yes, it floods there so that sand it washed away plus with use the sand does go into the water at times, but of course plenty is left on the grass.

  9. I am sure that your granddaughter must have felt anxious being stuck in the loo. It sounds as if she was stuck there for quite awhile too.

    1. I'm sure she would have been rather anxious a normal feeling or emotion in that position. Don't think she was stuck in there for too long, about 1/2hour but that is long enough, even too long.

    1. Yes rather an odd place to be locked in the loo. When I was about 15 years old I used to go to the cemetery with my Polish girlfriend and we would take weeds from so older graves, my friend was pleased to do this also because her Father was buried in Poland and she wasn't able to visit his grave so wanted to take care of other peoples graves....

  11. I'm glad she had her phone-- It's good to have something happen that may cause temporary concern, but that will no doubt make people laugh when she talks about it in 50 years. Excellent pictures, by the way.

  12. What an experience to be locked in the toilet.
Fortunately she was liberated, it is beautiful there.
To me it is very strange Christmas in the summer, here it is winter everyone is inside by the warm stove and all the houses are lit with Christmas lights.

    1. Not a good feeling I should imagine to be locked in anywhere especially if you couldn't get out and hadn't to wait for a very long time.
Lovely place at that caravan park.

  17. Fortunately, your grand daughter had her phone with her to make the distress call. Not a very pleasant experience being lock in a public toilet at the cemetery. The park is a beautiful place. Enjoy your new week.

  18. Cute ornaments you made. Im confused though as to why you are having Christmas in March. I must have missed something!
That must have been a frightening experience for your granddaughter — and her dad when the door wouldn’t give in easily. Thank goodness for cell phones for children!

  19. I couldn't agree more, it certainly can't be a nice feeling being locked in the Loo in a Cemetery (of all places) !!!

Lovely photographs, I like your Christmas ornaments.

I was only thinking the other day it will soon be time to get the Easter décor out, the days and months go by so quickly.

    All the best Jan

  21. Hi Margaret,
Your granddaughter must have been distressed to be locked in the toilet, but of course after the situation was resolved, it turned out to be a funny story to remember and tell.
From your beautiful photos, this place is fantastic. I loved your Christmas decorations.
