On the way to Queenstown, Tasmania.

On the way from Derwent Bridge to Queenstown, Tasmania are hills, mountains windy roads and not many places to pull over for a stop.  We did find a couple of places to pull over and take some photos of the scenery, other photos are taken out the side window with same down as we moved along.

Obviously a fire had been through here it went on for miles.

Below - closer to Queenstown Tasmania, a former large mining town.  Mining is still done to a much lesser degree.

  3. Eso es la ventaja que tiene de no ir conduciendo, siempre se puede sacar la cámara por la ventanilla e ir fotografiando el paisaje.

  4. Picturesque countryside.
Maybe that fire was a controlled fire-burn out to get rid of rubbish.
I hope so. Certainly doesn't appear to be grazing countryside for livestock.

    1. Not grazing country there far too hilly and a fair bit of rain over the year..
Haven't a clue about the fire, but it may have been a controlled one..

    2. Yes certainly NOT grazing country.
I would say almost definitely that it was a CONTROLLED fire to get rid of vermin and rubbish which is very sensible.

  5. Pretty rugged country by the look. My partner worked in Queenstown in the '70s.

  6. That fire was very extensive. Let’s hope a rich vegetational renewal will occur as a result.

    1. Yes it will live on - and there is plenty of that bushland in that area.

  8. Devastating how much damage a fire can do, two or three years from now it will be greening up again.

  16. Such wonderful countryside, your photographs are lovely.
It is always a shame to see fire, but nature does usually overcome.

We have some bad moor fires in the UK at the moment, which both firefighters and the army are fighting
