Biloela, Queensland

Beautiful Hibiscus flower taken on our holiday in Winter.
Taken with my phone.

Leaving Mundubbera in Queensland was exciting after the mishap  of the caravan, we were on our way to Biloela in Queensland.  Weather was warmer so lighter clothes at last in our past winter.

Stayed in a lovely caravan park with an en-suite - all the sites had en-suites.
We last stayed in Biloela in 2008 and it was in this town that I was called back to Tasmania as my late mother became ill.  Flew home alone and saw my mum before she died 10 days after my arrival. My husband had to drive back to Tasmania by himself that year. So this year it was wonderful to return to Biloela once again.

This past winter we arrived to a buzz of the country folk telling us there was a Field Day and were we going - it was for two days so we did go on the Sunday morning and we had a ball.
Some of the photos I took with my phone of the goings on.

Particularly enjoyed watching the plowing as I can recall my late Grandfather doing the same. He preferred the old way to a tractor :)

Threshing Drum machine above it was used to thresh grain.

This was a tractor race to see who could go the slowest without stalling - interesting to watch.

  6. La flor del hibisco debe de ser una planta muy dura cuanto prolifera por tantos lugares, además tiene hermosos colores, alegrando el ambiente en donde se encuentra esta planta.

  8. Sounds like a fun time. The grey Fergie appears to 'winning' the tractor race. I had forgotten about David Brown tractors.

  9. Interesting to know what Biloela means.
Country Field days are heaps of fun........a time for all the station (farming/property) people to have a real "Knees up get together".
Tall tales flourish, I can tell you.
Have been to Biloela years ago, one of my college mates in Sydney parents
had a large property in the area. A bloody long way to go to college in Sydney
instead of Brisbane.....all the "Old Boy Stuff". Two days travelling from property gate to Hunter's Hill. Train to Brisbane and then overnight and plane to Sydney...........we were bred obviously a bit harder in those days - ha ha!
Yep Biloela is a great place to visit......so pleased you had an interesting time.
    Cheers
    Colin
PS: You are bloody correct with your summation of my loathing of stinking bats.

Many people don't realise or know about travel distance in Australia to get to school whether it be a boarding one or local school.

  10. A car with a sun visor! I haven't seen one of those in decades. With our Aussie sun, I think all cars should still have them. I love the big Clydesdales and the windmill.

  14. That black sedan looks like an MG Magnette.

I was fascinated when I drove through that area years ago to see all the cotton bolls everywhere.

    1. No evidence of cotton anywhere, some areas we see buts of cotton on the side of the road.
