The Windows!

Has been fun this week with the new windows and fly screen doors put in the house.  The windows are double glazed and tinted.  All is looking good and the cleaning is still going on.
In the middle of this my hairdresser came as she has gone mobile.  The rent in the salon she had went up over half.  In April she marries and she and her future husband a building a house.
It seems strange having a hairdresser come to my home, but it was lovely.  The men putting in the windows were tormenting the life out of me :)  At least for them it was a site they probably had not seen, me with foils in my hair.

The finished product and part of the new windows which of course were not complete.

The guest room window but no glass in the middle.

What I call the Girls room (grandchildren) with no glass in the middle panel.  Interesting how one can't see inside, only the reflection of me and two of the men.

Getting ready to put the window in the guest room

The windows and screen doors before most of them were taken off.
The colour of the windows are Monument the same colour as the new spouting.

  1. Janice, looks like a fun change in the house for sure. I'm looking forward to putting up some indoor plantation shutters, so will be showing these on my blog around the first of April.

  2. I would be quite excited about the new windows. We opted for a medium tint on ours but my partner wanted a darker tint. I argued, correctly I think, that it would cut the night time view down too much. I will be interested to know if you think the double glazing makes a heating bill difference.

    1. No problems with seeing out at dusk with the double glazed windows....the tint is dark, and we are told it will be warmer in the winter, so wait and see.

  4. Love big windows, as long as they open.
I like to catch the summer southerlies but living in Tasmania maybe not so important.

    1. Yes the windows open each side of the large pane of glass. I open mine for the northern breeze...

    1. They look lovely. By chance the hairdresser comes to home. She lives in another city as does a few of her relatives hair here in Launceston after she's done mine. I think in the future she won't come, but lapping it up whilst I can.

  7. Exciting, new windows, yay! I would not want to be the person who drives new windows in a truck to their new home. Too stressful!

    1. Those windows whilst travelling are in the back of the vehicle in such a way, they won't break..

    1. Makes a lot of difference, looks as if we have a new house. Seems many people have new windows no matter where we live. I'm hearing all the time...good for the economy.

  10. I like the grey frames of the windows. In Tasmania is double glazing primarily used to keep out summer heat or winter chill? As you're quite temperate, I'm guessing the latter?

    1. Double glazed is used for both of those seasons, but more so winter even though it's not cold by some standards, it's cold to us if we get an odd 10degC day...yes, our climate is temperate.
