Mt. Roland, Northern Tasmania.

Mt. Roland is 1,234 meters high. 4048ft so it's not a high mountain.  Recently a well respected man and his wife from the State of Adelaide spend many weeks traveling Tasmania.  Their last journey together was on a walking track at Mt. Roland.  Her body was found not very far from the summit.  Her husband was taken into custody and charged with her murder - the remainder we wait to hear.

I have done posts on Mt. Roland before 'here' and you will see a photo from a very different angle.

  2. Wow, that happens here in the states also, with men, sometimes women, murdering their partners by pushing them off a cliff when out hiking. I wonder what will come out in the trial. The photo with the mountain is beautiful.

    1. It doesn't happen here very often at all, so it was rather a shock to us on our Island.
The man has to appear in court in April via video link from Risdon Jail to the Court in Devonport.

  3. That is quite some story Margaret - I wonder if travelling together for so many weeks became too much for him.

  4. Beautiful clipping. It is very shocking to hear about this story. How do they think to kill their partners...

    1. Have no idea why someone would kill anyone actually, let alone your partner...but these things are a reality.

  6. A forbidding looking mountain. Sad and tragic story now attached.
I don't recall reading about this - maybe in the South Australian
papers - Adelaide being the capital.

Brisbane copped a fierce storm yesterday afternoon - thankfully AFTER
the completion here of the "Welcome Home" military parade which
drew huge crowds of "Greeters and very Thankful people".
    Cheers

    1. I suppose it wasn't report in the media up your way. We don't always know what has happened in Q'Land down here either. No doubt it would have been in the Adelaide paper as they were well known.
Heard about your storm via the internet. But that's what happens up your way...it's supposed to rain tomorrow, I wish it would and get it over and done with...but no, more rain Wednesday for the remainder of the week apparently..

    2. And a replay again this afternoon - it is becoming a bloody nuisance.
So much moisture in the ground - so when it is fine and sunny, a replay of summer -
      sauna wise!!!

    1. Yes, strange indeed. He was 19 years older than she was. We don't always here what happened in Melbourne....Yes, burning off was in progress with the fire engine near by as there are a few houses there.

    1. Yes very sad for family and friends. No one likes to hear of someone being killed.
Will keep you posted on what is happening with him, he's to appear in court in Devonport via video link from Risdon Prision in the Hobart area down south of the Island in April.

  11. I like the rugged nature of the mountain. Shame to read about the wife's death. I wonder if she was perhaps ill and it could be a mercy killing of sorts. It'll all come out no doubt.

    1. It's intriguing the death of the lady... like the rocks of the mountains, and to be unless there is a rock it's not a mountain :)

  12. This countryside looks very similar to where I grew up in country NSW.
