Few things at Deloraine, Tasmania, Australia

Took a photo of a few people by the Meander River, I was some distance away and I do believe they knew what I was doing :)  It's difficult to take people's photos sometimes, and I don't blame them for turning away..

The hotel was established in 1848, the Meander River is opposite.

Not sure what the above represents.

  1. The architecture of the houses is very interesting next to the river. The colour of houses is not common here.

    1. Many of the houses are brick, then some are made of all timber.

  2. I love the river photo. Pity about the advertising on such a grand looking pub.

    1. Thanks.I suppose the Pub is advertising what they sell, it doesn't really look like a pub, but then what is a pub supposed to look like!

  4. Yes - I think if looks could kill your camera may have melted! ha ha.
Lovely shots of picnicing by the river.
Yep as Andrew states the ads. on the hotel walls are a bit over the top.
Unfortunately privately owned hotels have to also display them but at least
they don't cost the family any money for installing them. They do tend to spoil the
    decor etc.
Well my grandfather had a saying about strange things when he was asked by his grandkids and
for that matter anyone - "It is a wing-wong for a goose's bridle". To this day, I have no idea what
    that ever meant??????
So you can call it that - ha ha!

    2. Yes, the signs do spoil the pub, but can understand why the signs are there.
Never heard of that saying :) and I too have no idea what it means, will look it up.

    3. Good luck with that saying!
It could have something to do with horse breaking. This grandfather was a horseman exceptional and broke in the brumbies for the mounted soldiers for WW1 and their well known military charges in the Middle East.

  6. On that last blue man, did his upper lip fall off onto his lower lip out of shock that munchkins were dancing atop his head? The river is beautiful and that is a hotel beyond it?

    1. The hotel is fully functional and nice to look at from the road. Have had a meal there but that was a very long time ago.
The statue, have no idea why the mouth is open so wide, would mean something I presume.

These are such pretty photos, Margaret. It would be relaxing to sit by the river and the hotel is very grand. God bless your Sunday.
