Moon in the heat of night!

It's been lovely and warm down here in Tasmania, some places reaching just over 40 deg C = 104 deg F, however many cities and towns in Australia have been reaching up to 46 deg C.  Yes, it's hot and many people do suffer from the heat. Thank goodness we are ok, and keep cool with the Air-conditioning if necessary, or just open the windows and doors and let the fresh air in with the blinds closed to a degree, it depends.

This evening I went outside to sit and saw that the moon was low in the sky, the phone rang so I didn't get to take the photo of the moon before it got too dark, as I like to take it as it's getting dark.  I can't find my tri-pod, so the photo was taken normally so hence it's not that clear.

I have been at my dads for a few days, and will return next week to stop again.  Next month it's his 90th Birthday, apparently word it getting around his city, so I am getting ready or thinking about what I am going to do as in a celebration.  I did think of having an afternoon tea at his house.

Dad told me to 'fix' the foyer, meaning to redecorate it, so when it cools down I will be off to see what's about.

  1. Stay cool in the heat, that does sound pretty unbearable to be outside. Here in the US we are getting the opposite with bad cold weather, but at least the polar vortex is over.

    1. We are doing ok in the heat Adam, thanks. We do nothing mainly, just rest and drink water.
Extreme cold plus extreme heat two opposites, it's sometimes hard to keep warm I presume, and same to keep cool for some. Won't be long and your spring will arrive.

  2. I have seen a lot of spectators passing out at the Australian tennis tournament on TV.
A tea afternoon sounds a great way of celebrating your father's 90th birthday.

    1. Oh yes Rosemary, dropping like flies at the tennis, not good. They have closed the roof, thank goodness so now the players won't suffer nor will the spectators.

  3. The heat is almost as bad as ice and snow. You still would be stuck indoors a lot. Soon it will be summer for us and winter for you. Do you get snow in the winter like we do?

    1. Yes Beth, opposites. No we are not stuck indoors, many go shopping into shops and keep cool if they don't have air-conditioning, it's holiday time here so many people go to the beach, we have many. In the hottest part of the day it's best to stay in doors and of course plus everyone has air-conditioning in their cars.

Snow in our winter! Not where I live, on the peaks of the mountains there will be snow but not for long. :)
Tasmania is classed as having a cool temperate climate.

  6. Diane, it gets really hot down here, it's a different heat than you have. Get sunburnt down here very easily. Husbands Auntie always gets sunburnt here, and doesn't in Brisbane :)
I will do my best for my father's 90th :)
