Last Monday we decided to go for a drive, so 4 hours later we arrived home in the dark.
We went along the Tamar River on the western side and first stop was at Blackwall then Clarence Point, and Beauty Point by the time we got to Brady's Lookout it was dark but twilight.
I took my camera for a change but had my phone, these photos were taken with the camera.
The drive wasn't that far from home but seeing as we diverted here and there, stopped and looked at the view it all took time.The Tamar River is officially 70km long (43 mile) and despite being named a river, the waterway is a brackish and tidal estuary over its entire length.
There are fish in the river such as Southern Black Bream, Flathead, Snapper, Silver Trevally, Rays, Salmon, Whiting, Mullet, sea-run Brown Trout, amongst many others.
I've tried to insert a map at the bottom of the photos but alas it won't appear!

Golod on you for looking it up, yes, plenty of wineries along the Tamar River, it's not necessarily suited for housing as there are slip areas scattered here and there. Many parts of Tasmania have wineries which we don't bother to visit as we are not great wine drinkers.

Yes tidal, Andrew, the mouth of the river is at Gorge Town where it meets the sea as in Bass Strait.

Yep oysters are a worry - eat the ones not cultivated and woo !!!
Toilet here I come - ha ha.
Had words with my two wood ducks this morning - they would have given me the finger if they could !! Again told them between angry hisses and spits that 4.00 pm
is biscuit time!
Quite a miserable morning and I think it poured overnight Still saves me watering my garden which is blooming at present.

DeleteI used to eat oysters off the rocks down south at a beach called Cremorne, they never made me ill but I was young then, still love oysters.

I am pleased to report that Mr. and Mrs. Wood Duck have got over their sulking fit and have returned to eat what looked a great meal last night but was a FLOP!

DeleteOur eldest niece and her husband. His parents built a shack there but it looks like a house, built many years ago, so niece and husband are virtually going to rebuild it and make it a bit bigger, it will look modern amid the older shacks and homes there R.

Thank you Giorgio. Lovely and peaceful where the seat is, a few houses across the road behind the seat, they also have a lovely view. Where our niece lives now, she also has a bit of sea view but at Clarence Point it sure will be better.
DeleteThe Tamar River is so gorgeous. Catching twilight at Brady's Lookout at the end of the day must have been breathtaking, even if it meant the last stretch of the trip was after sunset. And how wonderful for your niece and her husband to be settling down at Clarence Point with a view like that right out their window, what an absolute dream spot! Beauty Point is such a lovely area too.
