George's Diner and Conway Beach, Queensland.

3,000 km from Launceston to Conway Beach so it's a long way from home. We visited there a few years back whilst staying at Proserpine in Queensland. See map below. As many of you know we are two people who hop in the car and go for a drive, but we go where our nose leads us, that is what happened this day and we ended up at Conway Beach at George's Diner from Proserpine and had some lunch.
Kite surfing is popular as is fishing, walking along the 2km beach and just relaxing.
The Diner is done in the 1950's style and so surprised to see it so beautifully done.

Hello Margaret. I watched the video. The shop feels as though it has stepped out of another era, yet it is still so full of life. You can sense the atmosphere of that time while still enjoying the comforts of today. With all the miles you have traveled and all the experiences you have gathered, you could honestly make a documentary. I always enjoy seeing the new places you share because I truly love reading about and seeing images from different parts of the world. It feels as though I am travelling right alongside you.

ReplyDeleteI like the diner and the cars, esp. that red pick-up. It would be delightful to take a walk at the beach, with bare feet touching the soft sands and brise on my face.

ReplyDeleteOh to be able to travel as freely as that! Spouse and I did that across Europe in a car in the 1970s, and loved every minute of the experience.
ReplyDeleteThe Qld diner reminded me of the American tables, checked floors, red vinyl and metal chair legs of a much earlier era.
