Eighty Mile Beach is a 220 klm stretch of white sand in Western Australia, located halfway between Broome and Port Hedland. It is a popular spot for fishing and shell collecting, known for its spectacular sunsets and as a vital wetland for migratory birds and a nesting ground for flatback turtles. Due to risk of jellyfish, sharks, and crocodiles, swimming is not recommended, although some visitors use the caravan park for a base to enjoy the surroundings..
We have stayed at 80 miles beach a few times and enjoyed it. Walked along part of the beach, collected shells and watched the sunsets. The area is rather isolated being rather hot in the winter when we travelled there each time with no humidity.
The photo of the Flatback Turtle (borrowed) and it spends 99.5% of its time in Australia.

The beach looks very big. Beautiful photos of the sunset.
ReplyDeleteIt is ever so big that beach and each time we've been there we had beautiful weather and hardly any wind.
DeleteThank you, Marit.
That beach looks incredible. Walking the shore and collecting shells must be so relaxing. Seeing the flatback turtles in their natural habitat makes it even more special.
ReplyDeleteOh, Melody, I did have fun collecting shells and I still have them.
DeleteWe never saw any turtles but great to know they come there.
I would enjoy being there, but it's sad to see those tyre tracks on the sand. I shudder to think of the microscopic organisms crushed beneath the wheels of those vehicles.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people gather there David as there is nothing much between there and Broome. Very isolated. The beach is very long and people don't travel along the sand too far.
DeleteOMGosh Margaret, these photos are amazing. I keep going back to look at them. I would love to stay there as well. Thank you for sharing and have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's a special place there, many people gather in the winter, sit around the campfire, talk about their adventures and it's always friendly.
DeleteDear Margaret, what a gorgeous series of captures. Pure beauty. I love the views and the turtle 🐢
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. Fortunately, the weather was wonderful each time we've been there, that makes a lot of difference.
DeleteThese pictures are fabulous! I will look at them again and again.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that. It is a lovely place.
DeleteThose photos are breathtakingly beautiful. You are lucky living in such a lovely country, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie. Yes, it is a beautiful country and so lucky to have visited so many places in it.
DeleteSuch a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is Giorgio.
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Fantastic that views along the beach.
So special to see that turtle. So sweet.
Many greetings,
Marco
Thank you Marco. For me it is good that I found a lovely photo of that turtle.
DeleteWonderful photographs, especially the sunsets.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the turtle too.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan. It was so great to be able to take photos of the sunsetting over the sea.
DeleteA place where vast silence, shimmering heat, and unforgettable sunsets reward those willing to venture into its remote beauty
ReplyDeleteHow right you are, a place in the middle of nowhere too. It's not often we in Australia get the opportunity to take sunset photos in our west and over the sea.
DeleteI see Marble Bar on the map. Yes, it must be very hot in that area, but better than humidity. There are quite a few people on the beach.
ReplyDeleteHaven't been to Marble Bar, I'm told that the rocks as in colours are amazing there and ever so hot.
DeleteMany people at 80-mile beach walk in the evening time along the beach instead of the daytime in winter.
Es una bella playa. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThank you, J.P.
DeleteThe W.A coast line is fabulous. I lived in Perth for a few years many decades ago and loved every trip along the coast.
ReplyDeleteWonderful coast line in W.A as you say Hels, and a long drive to some of the inland places and further up north but it's well worth it, well it was for us.
DeleteIt looks beautiful there and winter is definitely the best time to visit with no humidity then. I'd like to see it one day and Marble Bar too.
ReplyDeleteWhen we've been there R it's been so beautiful, no wind just a little breeze every now and then. Never been to Marble Bar.
DeleteHello Margaret
ReplyDeleteThere really is so much to admire and so much to walk around. As you well know, I'm always most captivated by these vast spaces, the unlimited visibility to the horizon. And that lovely sunset.
For now, I don't have any sun here; the days are very short, gray, cold, and unpleasant, so I look at your wonderful paintings with great delight and joy.
Thank you. I'll try and remember to post more photos as above. Take care in winter and those short days you are having.
DeleteWhat a beautiful series of photos, Margaret!
ReplyDeleteThe sunset in the first photo is my favorite.
I wish you a lovely Wednesday evening.
Best regards Irma
Thank you Irma.
DeleteWhat great pictures, the beach looks amazing and that picture of the turtle. You must have been very close.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
Thank you Sandy. The turtle photo is borrowed as we didn't see any there the times we've been.
DeleteThe beach looks so nice. love the turtle.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary, beautiful long beach. Turtle photo borrowed.
DeleteAs always, your pictures are excellent. They always make me feel like I've been there.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill.
DeleteEin toller Strand ist für lange Spaziergänge und zum Sammeln von Steinen und Muscheln.
ReplyDeleteGruß
Noke
Yes Noke, people do fish there as well.
DeleteVeramente un luogo meraviglioso soprattutto al tramonto.
ReplyDeleteLe tue fotografie regalano un grande senso di pace
Thank you Stefania, peaceful place too.
DeleteThe beach looks spectacular, and the sunsets must be beautiful and captivating to watch as the day ends.
ReplyDeleteRegards.
Beautiful long beach, Jose. Glorious sunsets especially if there are clouds about which is not always the case.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love turtles.
DeleteWhat wonderful photos
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne.
DeleteSe ve preciosa, me encanta. Estos días también he estado paseando por la playa. Besos.
ReplyDeleteOh lovely, Teresa.
DeleteAn incredible sunset. A wonderful beach, what a shame it's dangerous for those who like to swim.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful turtle.
Fantastic photos 👏
Have a great Sunday
Wonderful beach! I want to visit there.
