Snow again.

Ben Lomond taken through the window at home here in Launceston, Tasmania.  There certainly has been some good snowfalls in the mountains and high country in Tasmania this winter, however none here at home as usual.  Now we are in spring the wind has come with days being a little warmer but the wind makes you feel cold.

Cradle Mountain above and below which is along the northwest coast and inland.  There is a Hotel and a caravan park there and a bus shuttle that takes you to the base of the mountain to take walks on different paths in the area but not advised when the weather isn't the best.  The photo below when there is not snow on Cradle Mountain.  I borrowed Cradle Mountain with snow and the photos below which we all taken in the high country. The photo without snow is mine.

  3. Beautiful photos of the mountains with snow. You have a very short winter where you live. I wish it was like that here too. Enjoy the spring!

  4. Margaret, over here today is September 21st, spring begins and although it rained all night, today is somewhat better. The youth, no matter what, is preparing to celebrate it. A hug

Got to have rain as long as it's not too much. Beautiful day here today.

    1. Thank you Denise. Many places and areas have snow in Australia, people ski in the mountains in NSW = New South Wales, Victoria, Canberra and of course Tasmania. There has been snowfalls in mostly the higher towns this year.

  11. Great photos. My sister's eldest daughter and my God Child went there for her
end of year "party" instead of that wretched "Gold Coast" which becomes a Policeman's nightmare with the drugs and nakedness etc etc.
She was there with a couple of girlfriends and they got lost!!!
Anyhow found and given a "lecture".
Must have sunk in as she did incredibly at the University of Sydney.
God honours in a course which I didn't think girls would touch - "SEWERAGE
Waste " . She wrote a book on it - details incredible and now is a book
for students. She was also selected form Uni students to go to NASA in the
    USA for a course!
Must have inherited my "brains" ( JOKE )!!!!!
Lovely sunny day here in Terrigal and over the weekend so plenty in
    the surf.
    Cheers

    1. Don't be concerned about the spelling, I make mistakes all the time unfortunately.
My your Godchild has done well for herself, and yes, many people do get lost here in Tasmania especially those walking in mountainous areas in the wrong weather, even in summer it can happen that they wander of the beaten track. Most are found, thank goodness.
Beautiful sunny day here too, Colin.

  12. The snow covered landscapes are rather spectacular to look at, but how do the locals keep warm?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They certainly are Hels. People keep warm with wood as in open fires, wood heaters, gas heaters (a bit expensive) or Electricity as in Heat Pumps which are reverse cycle ones - heat in winter, A/C in summer - simple. Some people have their houses ducted as we do with the latter. So every room you go into is warm in winter or cool in summer.

  14. Love your photos and am glad to see snow, but also glad to not live there. Adelaide is plenty cold enough for me! I like the wattle in your header.

    1. Thanks re wattle, lovely flower and it's still blooming in the bush areas, R.
Well the snow is up in the high country so therefore doesn't effect us only if a southerly wind/breeze and if it's really blowing the wind is very cold when snow is about.

  15. Hello Margaret
Sometimes I forget that everything is the other way around for you. I'm waiting for autumn, the days are getting shorter, while for you the days are longer and it's almost spring...
Australian snow is new to me. I didn't think it was snowing, although it is in the mountains, but it is. Wonderful pictures, picturesque and beautiful, a wonderful winter.
I'm slowly looking forward to a colorful autumn, and I hope it will be beautiful.
    Best regards.

  26. The whales are going north for the summer and to give birth to the new ones!
They are a fair way out but you can still see them breaching and blowing the water up. Quite fantastic.
    Lovely and sunny here.
More baby wood ducks - one mother went past with uncontrollable ducklings this morning.
I counted 14 of them. BUT the plovers, magpies and the wretched pommie (???)
mynah birds just kill them - horrible.
    We can but hope???????
